●Coming up in today”s show, Tzu Chi”s high-tech vegetarian food pantry in New Jersey, USA, is one year old.
●They were going to build it out of wood, but then they decided to make it out of bricks. Not a fairytale, but the story of volunteers in Sri Lanka, helping repair a poor family”s rundown home.
●And we continue our series of feature reports on the indigenous students in Taiwan who are fighting for a better future with karate.

1.美食物儲藏周年 Tzu Chi NJ Food Pantry turns 1

We start today”s show in the US state of New Jersey, to celebrate the first anniversary of Tzu Chi”s local food pantry. Established one year ago, the pantry not only provides vegetarian food, but is managed with the aid of a computerized system. Currently, 191 families rely on the ultra-modern and eco-friendly food pantry for their weekly nutritional needs. A total of 1,304 families have been serviced within the past year.

今天節目一開始來到美國的新澤西，來慶祝慈濟食物銀行開幕一周年，這一年前成立的食物銀行只提供素食，並有一套完善的電腦化系統，如今有191個家庭，固定來到這個現代化又環保的食物銀行領取物資，一年來也已經服務1304個家庭。



2.牛鼻子村環保 Recycling by example

Also making a difference, one volunteer in Niubizi(牛鼻子) village, of Hanwang(漢旺), in China”s Sichuan Province, has taken it upon himself to pick through the trash to find recyclables. Since he used to be the village head, at first, his fellow residents wondered what he was up to. But, as time went by, the villagers began to join him on his rounds.

也是則創造不同的報導，在漢旺的牛鼻子村，有一位志工 黃生云，主動承擔了推動環保的工作，把垃圾變成資源，過去是個領導者，在村子裡很有威望，好多村民一開始不能理解，時間一久，慢慢跟著黃生云一起撿起別人眼中的垃圾。

3.斯國濟貧蓋屋 Building a new home

In Sri Lanka, local volunteers in Colombo are actively carrying out Tzu Chi”s missions. They recently helped a poor local family rebuild their home, inspiring many others to join in.

斯里蘭卡的本地志工積極推廣慈濟志業，最近他們幫助一戶人家，重新打造他們的破屋，帶動了許多善心人士的加入。



4.馬國妮瑪拉 New Shoots program helps kids bloom

From Sri Lanka to Malaysia, where we meet Malacca resident Nimala, who was a full-time homemaker, until her husband was injured in a crash. She, and her children, began husking corn, for 25 US cents a kilo, to get by. But now the children are receiving scholarships through Tzu Chi”s New Shoots program.

從斯里蘭卡轉到馬來西亞，來認識一位馬六甲居民-妮瑪拉，原本是一位全職家庭主婦，直到她先生遭遇一場車禍，妮瑪拉與孩子開始剝玉米粒，一公斤的玉米粒只換取 25分錢美幣，不過從現在起，妮瑪拉的孩子接受慈濟的新芽助學金。



5.馬器捐遺愛 Organ donor saves 5

Staying in Malacca, only a months after signing up to become an organ donor, Zhou Zhixing(周志興), was involved in a road accident, that left him brain dead. The young man”s father fulfilled his son”s wish, and donated his liver, kidneys, and eyes to help five people get a new start in life.

也是馬六甲的報導，簽署器官捐贈一個月後，周志興因傷勢過重而腦死，周爸爸選擇完成孩子的遺願，將孩子的肝臟、腎臟和眼角膜捐出，也因此讓五位病人得到重生。



《 衲履足跡 》On Practicing Medicine 談學醫

The duty of a medical practitioner is not only to treat an illness, but the patient”s state of mind as well.
It is important to open up patients” hearts, and help rid them of their worries. A doctor”s true mission is to bring balance to people and the environment.

學醫不只是醫人身病痛，還要醫心，打開人人的心門，引導病患遠離憂鬱。醫人、醫心、醫大地，才真正是行醫救世。



6.空手逆轉勝(二) Karate opens doors for indigenous kids

In our continuing series of reports from Taiwan”s famous Guoxing Karate Team - which was formed in the aftermath of the 1999 earthquake, to help indigenous children from the central mountains - we take a look at the dormitory-life of the students. Their food and lodgings are provide free of charge, but the young champions have to learn to look after themselves.

空手逆轉勝的專題中，帶您來看南投國姓空手道隊的奮鬥故事，這個空手道隊是在1999年621地震後成立的，是為了幫助中台灣山區的原住民部落，今天帶大家看看團體住宿生活的學生，食宿免費提供，不過這些孩子要學會照顧自己的生活起居。



7.921系列(2)爽文王政忠 Giving his students the best education

Most of the students at Guoxing Karate Club come from families who were hit by the 921 earthquake. Yesterday was the 12th anniversary of the disaster. In the aftermath, Tzu Chi helped rebuild 51 schools. Today, we take you back to Shuangwen Junior High, to meet one of the teachers, who has an inspiring story.

國姓空手道隊的團員，大部分都經歷過台灣921大地震，昨天是地震的12周年紀念，當時慈濟協助重建災區51所學校，今天帶您回到爽文國中，這裡有一位老師因為受到證嚴上人的啟發，要讓他的學生受到最好的教育。



8.0922歷史的今天 On this day, the 22nd of September.

1985 Ven. Master Hsing Yun
Born in China”s Jiangsu Province, Venerable Master Hsing Yun was tonsured at the age of 12, and arrived in Taiwan when he was 23. He established the ”Fo Guang Shan” monastery in 1967, and announced his resignation on this day in 1985, handing over his abbotship to his senior disciple, Hsin Ping. The Master is also the founder of Buddha”s Light International Association.

2000 World Car Free Day
Originally launched by Britain and France, Car Free Day encourages residents to take public transportation instead of driving a car. The program went global in 2000, when September 22 was declared World Car Free Day.

2003 Yuli TC Hospital
To save lives and safeguard local residents” health in east Taiwan, the Tzu Chi Foundation build a new hospital in Yuli, in between Hualien and Taitung, which was completed and opened on this day in 2003. Residents and hospital staff celebrated the opening of the hospital together.

1985年 星雲法師 佛光傳承
出生於中國的江蘇省，星雲法師12歲出家，23歲到台灣弘法，1967年創建佛光山，在1985年這一天交棒給弟子-心平法師，星雲大師隨後也成立了國際佛光會。

2000年 世界無車日 減少碳足跡
原本由法國與英國發起無車日，鼓勵居民不要開車，搭乘公共交通，兩千年世界各國隨之響應，而9月22日被稱為世界無車日。

2003年 玉里慈濟醫院 啟用新院區
為了搶救生命及守護台灣東部地區居民的健康，慈濟基金會在玉里，位於花蓮與台東之間新蓋醫院，在2003年這一天完成，醫謢人員與居民一同慶祝啟用典禮。



9.送愛尼泊爾 Bringing love to the needy

Over 100 students from Taiwan”s Tunghai University, divided into five teams to go volunteering over the summer break, in Canada, Taiwan, China and Nepal. The students who went to the Himalayas had to carry 20kg backpacks for 17 days, before reaching their destination.

台中東海大學一百多位學生，今年暑假分成了五條路線，前往加拿大 台灣 中國和尼泊爾等地當志工，其中前往尼泊爾的學生
要背二十公斤重的行李，連走十七天的山路 才能到達地點。
