1.健康促進年會 A model in health promotion

The fifth annual convention of the Taiwan Health Promoting Hospital Association was held on Sunday, September 18, at Wanfang(萬芳) Hospital in Taipei. During the official gathering, the Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital was awarded the Model Health Promoting Hospital, and the CEO of Tzu Chi”s medical mission, Dr. Lin Junlong, was also appointed as the chairman of the association”s board.

台灣健康醫院學會第五屆年會，星期天18日在萬芳醫院舉行，大林慈院則是榮獲今年健康促進醫院中典範醫院的獎項，慈濟醫療志業執行長林俊龍，更被票選為理事長。


2.大林健康促進 Patient care & employee wellbeing

Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital began promoting community health, employee wellbeing, and environmental awareness in 2006. As you just saw, those efforts won the hospital this year”s Model Health Promoting Hospital award. In the next report we find out what makes Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital stand out.

從2006年開始，大林慈院積極推廣健康促進醫院觀念，還將健康層面拓展到關心同仁與打造環境保護，接下來的報導，來看看大林慈院的不同之處。


3.新澤西清掃 New Jersey flood clean-up

Moving to the United States, as some homes were still submerged after Hurricane Irene flooded the east coast, New Jersey volunteers went to a community in the northwest of the state, to help flood victims tidy up their homes.

轉到美國，因為艾琳颶風在東部造成的災情，讓許多人家的房子還泡在水中，新澤西慈濟人前往西北部的兩個小鎮，為受災居民輕掃家園。


4.解剖十五(四) Quiet approval for Silent Mentor class

To facilitate Tzu Chi”s simulated surgery, the director of the Simulated Surgery Center, Dr. Zeng Guofan, discovered a quick-freeze method, that allows cadavers to be stored for long periods, and returned to a life-like state when they are defrosted. The technology helps doctors practice their skills almost as if operating on a real patient.

為了讓慈濟模擬手術進行順利，解剖學科主任曾國藩發現，若能用急速冷凍保存大體，回溫後的大體組織
與臨床手術的人體相同，如此的技術若能應用在臨床手術上，就能幫助外科醫師的養成。


5.大體曾陳玉霞 Silent Mentor: Zeng-Chen Yuxia

One of the recent Silent Mentors at TCU was Zeng-Chen Yuxia(曾陳玉霞). The devoted mother of four passed away from liver cancer in November 2008. Since her mother was also a Silent Mentor, Zeng-Chen Yuxia decided to follow in her footsteps and also donate her body to medical science.

今天要帶您認識的大體老師是曾陳玉霞女士，這位有著四個孩子的賢妻良母，2008年11月因肝癌病逝，而因為曾陳玉霞的媽媽也是位大體老師，她跟著媽媽的腳步也奉獻己身，成就醫學教育。


《 衲履足跡 》On Compassion & Wisdom 談慈悲智慧

Compassion must be exercised alongside wisdom. For example, in disaster relief work, we have to make a list of priorities and steps.
We must learn to be grateful if a typhoon passes without causing too much damage, and understand that any suffering helps offset negative karma.

慈悲、智慧要平行，應用智慧思考緩急，希望慈善工作也要有進階方式。要感恩颱風過後，並無大災，受一時的災難即消一時的業障。


6.微笑站起(三) School aid for Kamaishi

After the March 11 Japanese earthquake and tsunami, most of the schools in Kamaishi of Iwate Prefecture were left unscathed. But because the local economy was based around the ocean, families have lost their source of income, and are struggling to get by. That”s why the Tzu Chi Foundation made a large donation to Kamaishi schools to buy meals for the children, for one semester. Now parents do not have to worry about paying for school lunch.

日本三一一地震後，在岩手縣釜石市的學校未受損，不過因為居民多半靠海維生，海嘯過後全部停擺，家長沒有收入，生活都有困難，慈濟基金會了解後，特別支援釜石市學童一學期營養午餐，讓家長不用擔心餐費。


7.0920歷史的今天 On this day, 20th of September.

1946 Cannes Film Festival
The first Cannes International Film Festival was originally planed for September 1 to 30, 1939. However, due to the Second World War, it was only until this day in 1946 that the festival was finally held. Cannes is one of the most prestigious film festivals today.

1993 Singapore TC Chapter
In 1987, Taiwanese Tzu Chi volunteers in Singapore began caring for the needy. On this day in 1993, with the approval of the local government, the Tzu Chi Singapore Chapter was formally established, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Tzu Chi in the country.

1997 New school buildings
Situated in Jiangxi Province, China, the only school in the mountainous area of Yichun City, was built by the local residents. To ensure the children”s safety, Shanghai Tzu Chi volunteers decided to build new classrooms, which were complete on this day in 1997. Today, volunteers hand out scholarships funds to the students every year, to help them continue their education.

1998 Free clinic in Brazil
Tzu Chi began holding free clinics in Brazil in 1995, providing internal medicine, dental, pediatrics and gynecology treatment to the needy. On this day in 1998, an ophthalmology service became available, and free glasses would be given to those in need in April the next year.

1946年 首屆坎城影展 法國開幕
首屆坎城影展原本計劃於1939年9月份期間舉辦，不過因世界二次大戰，直到1946年的這一天才正式展開。如今，坎城影展是世界著名的影展之一。

1993年 慈濟新加坡分會 獲准成立
1987年開始，來自台灣的慈濟志工，在新加坡訪貧關懷，在1993年這一天正式獲得當地政府註冊局的批准，成立慈濟新加坡分會，開啟慈濟在新加坡的慈善推廣。

1997年 江西白竹小學 山區孩童讀書樂
位在中國的江西省，宜春市山區的唯一一所小學，校舍原本由當地村民搭建而成，為了保障孩童就學安全，上海地區的慈濟志工決定援建全新校舍，在1997年這一天完工，志工還每年到校致贈獎助學金，讓孩童安心讀書。

1998年 慈濟巴西義診 首次加入眼科
從1995年開始慈濟在巴西舉辦義診，有內科、牙科、小兒科以及婦科，在1998年這一天開始第一次的眼科義診，隔年四月還免費為民眾配眼鏡 。


8.巴西眼科 Free clinic with ophthalmology

The Tzu Chi Brazil Office began holding free clinics in 1995, providing internal medicine and dental treatment first, and gradually added pediatrics, gynecology, and ophthalmology services. In 1999, the free clinic also began offering prescription glasses to patients, free of charge. Let”s look at Tzu Chi-Brazil”s 13 years of healthcare commitment.

慈濟巴西聯絡處，從1995年開始舉辦義診，開始只有內科和牙科，慢慢的增加小兒科、婦產科與眼科服務。到了1999年，更開始發放免費眼鏡給需要的居民，讓我們一起來看看，慈濟在巴西13年來的付出。
