We start today”s show in China, where Tzu Chi”s winter relief distributions in Sichuan”s Bazhong continued for a second day. The supplies were a godsend for victims of September”s flooding. Many residents were inspired to help pass the love forward, by volunteering themselves. Meanwhile, it was -17 degrees Celsius, in China”s Hebei Province. Nearly 450 Tzu Chi volunteers from Taiwan, and China, gathered in Laiyuan County, to help distribute supplies to over 12,000 residents, in two days.

Tzu Chi”s work in China”s Zhejiang Province, began some 11 years ago, when a volunteer arrived in Yiwu(義烏) to set up a business. After some hard work, Lanxi(蘭溪) City, an hour away from Yiwu, now has a small army of volunteers, and members. That”s why Tzu Chi was able to hold a winter aid distribution there, this year. Over 750 residents, from 316 families, received aid.

Back to Taiwan, and day-5 of Da Ai TV”s transition to HD. The switch to high-definition was made possible thanks to the hard work of everyone at the station. In less than a year, an army of engineers, and technicians, got the new system up and running. Let”s find out how they did it.

No doubt we”ll have more on HD tomorrow, but back to today, and the Tzu Chi Chapter in Indonesia, which regularly holds free clinics for needy patients. This time in North Jakarta”s Pademangan Village, volunteers, and TIMA medical staff, came together to give treatment to low income families, and solitary seniors.

To save the world, one must engage in environmental protection of the spirit, society and our planet.

There are only around 200 Lesser Salamanders left in the mountains of northern Taiwan, which makes studying them very difficult. To better understand these rare nocturnal amphibians, Da Ai TV dispatched a camera crew, to follow a team of researchers, into Wufeng Township.

Although people are introduced to Buddhist sutras through sign language musicals, they are a convenient way to study the dharma.
Within the convenience, there is also truth, which can touch people”s hearts. We must apply Buddhism to everyday life, otherwise we will only be paying lip-service, which will be difficult to maintain.

In Taiwan”s Yilan County, Baimi village recently revived its tradition of clog-making. Over the last decade, community residents have been working hard, to remarket their old-fashioned clogs, and keep them in step with modern trends. The villagers” creativity is helping revive Baimi, and breathe new life into the village.

One of the original clog-makers in Baimi is 70-year-old Mr. Lin Wenshu, who learned his trade from his father. He could shave wood when he was just out of elementary school, and by the time he was 16, he was an accomplished shoe-maker. Mr. Lin says, he used to make over 1,000 pairs a day; but during the slump, he once went a whole month without a sale. Having been through many ups and downs, Lin says he is determined to pass down the tradition, to the next generation.

We end the show with another annual tradition - the Rose Parade in Pasadena, USA, which is in its 123rd year. Tzu Chi volunteers again took part, co-sponsoring a float with the Donate Life foundation. We”ll leave you with these images. Thank you for watching Da Ai Headlines. Goodbye.
