A new milestone for Da Ai TV
Tzu Chi Free clinic in Xiangan
The Wus” handmade cotton quilts

On the first day of 2012, Da Ai TV station celebrated its 14th birthday and also ushered in the HD era by launching Da Ai 2. As Tzu Chi carries out winter relief distributions throughout China, in Fujian”s Xiamen, a free clinic was also organized at the distribution in Xiangan district. We meet a dedicated father-son pair of quilt makers in Taiwan, who make their products by hand, and are determined to keep the tradition alive.

2012年的第一天，大愛電視台舉辦14周年慶，也同時在大愛二台HD高畫質頻道開播；慈濟在中國福建廈門舉辦冬令發放，也在翔安地區舉辦義診；我們帶大家看看，一對製作棉被的父子檔，他們要努力讓手工製作的棉被傳承下去。

1.大愛14周年慶 Da Ai goes HD

Sunday, January 1st, was a day of nonstop celebration for Tzu Chi Foundation”s media establishment: it was the 14th anniversary of Da Ai TV, the seventh anniversary of the Tzu Chi Culture and Communication Center, and the day of the launch of the TV station”s new HD channel. Viewers can now tune into old and new programs, that are broadcast in even better image quality. Master Cheng Yen, who was in Changhua on New Year”s Day, hosted the launch of the new channel via video conferencing with Taipei.

周日，一月一日是慈濟人文志業的歡慶時刻，是大愛電視台14周年，慈濟人文志業中心7周年，也是大愛台全新的HD高畫質頻道正式開播的日子，不論是新舊節目，觀眾可以欣賞到更清晰的畫面，證嚴上人在彰化，特別與台北連線，展開頻道啟動儀式。


2.大愛HD更精彩(1) Ads everywhere one looks

This year, TV in Taiwan has a taken a big leap forward with the introduction of Da Ai 2 - our station”s first HD channel. Offering crisp and clear images, Da Ai 2, which went on air from January 1st, will continue to bring the high-quality broadcasting that viewers have come to expect. Only now, viewers can enjoy their favorite news and drama shows in movie-theater-like quality. Although the road has been long for Da Ai TV, with the arrival of Da Ai 2, the TV stations is now a leader in the future of public programming.

今年，大愛台往前邁進一大步，開闢大愛二台，也就是大愛台第一個HD頻道，元旦開播，提供清晰的畫質，也將持續推出符合觀眾期望的高品質的內容，現在 不論是新聞或是戲劇節目，都有電影的好品質，回首漫長的這一段路，有了大愛二台，大愛電視將點亮數位新世代。


3.中HD大愛台 This is the moment

Da Ai TV entered the HD era on the first day of this year, offering audiences across the world even more refined images and new programs to inspire. Viewers in Taiwan will be able to enjoy the new HD experience on Channel 99, on MOD, which is a paid TV service from Chunghwa Telecom.

大愛二台HD頻道，元旦正式開播，正式進入HD高畫質時代，提供電視機前的觀眾，視覺上的饗宴，觀眾透過中華電信MOD，就能在第99頻道，觀賞到大愛二台。

4.巴中物資準備 Children help with the cause

The Tzu Chi Foundation continues with it winter distributions around China. Recently preparations for a distribution in Sichuan”s Bazhong(巴中) have been in full swing. Although Tzu Chi was here a half a year ago following flooding to the area, this is the first large scale distribution that Tzu Chi has held in the area.

慈濟基金會在大陸各省的冬令發放陸續展開，四川巴中物資準備工作，也進入緊鑼密鼓的階段，雖然慈濟半年前在發生水患，就來到這裡，是慈濟第一次在巴中進行大型的發放工作。


5.漳州浦南發放 Food, clothes, & hair cuts

Tzu Chi”s winter relief distribution in China arrived in Fujian”s Zhangzhou, where volunteers handed out supplies to 2,351 householders in Punan Township, most of whom were elderly. Free hair cuts were also provided so residents could front a fresh look in the New Year.

慈濟在中國的冬令發放，腳步來到福建漳州，在浦南鎮總共發放了2351戶，這裡的居民大多是老人家，現場也有義剪，讓居民可以開心迎新年。


6.廈門義診 A man troubled by growth

Stay in China”s Fujian Province, Tzu Chi”s winter relief distributions continue in the Xiangan, Jimei, and Haicang (翔安、集美、海滄) districts of the Xiamen area. In Xiangan, a free clinic was also organized with the help of the Xiamen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. An old friend, Mr. Cai Dishui, came back for a check-up.

在中國福建省，慈濟的冬令發放在廈門的翔安、集美、海滄三個地區進行，翔安區的發放點還同時舉辦義診，廈門市中醫院愛心響應，還有位老朋友蔡滴水前來回診。


《 衲履足跡 》On Manners and Sense 談禮與理

Education should teach good manners, and pass on good sense. When children go astray, you should be able to tell them to see reason, and teach them to behave properly.
In fact, ”good manners” and ”good sense” are the same. Even if un-mannered people talk sense, they will not be able to clearly explain their reasonable points.

教育，應教之以禮，傳之以道。孩子行為偏差，應該要對他們說道理、教他們有禮。其實「禮」就是「理」，無禮者即使要對之講道理，也是有理講不清。


7.360手工棉被(一) Used to cotton fibers

In our continuing series on traditional trades in Taiwan, we introduce you to handmade cotton quilt maker, Mr. Wu Jinfu吳金福. The 75-year-old craftsman, who has been in the business for 50 years, has a personal relationship with many of his customers. Although the price is much higher than a factory-made quilt, handmade cotton quilts can last for more than 20 years. Mr. Wu Jinfu says he can”t retire because he feels responsible to his loyal clients.

在今天的360行專題中，要介紹大家看手工製作棉被師傅吳金福，今年七十五歲的他，在金山開的手工棉被廠已經走過半世紀，也與許多老客戶建立良好的信任，雖然手工價格比工廠製作來的高，但是一件手工棉被能蓋上二十年，老師傅吳金福不願退休，是因為對老客戶負責的那份堅持。

8.360手工棉被傳承(二) Family business going strong

Although Mr. Wu Jinfu is not ready to retire, he does have an heir to his business. His son, Wu Yulong, started learning about cotton when he was in high school, and can tell his customers all about the advantages of handmade quilts. The 37-year-old has even set up a website, to open up new markets for the old family business, and keep the tradition of handmade quilts alive.

雖然吳金福還不想要退休，但是他已經有一個傳人，他的兒子吳裕隆，從高中時代看著老爸做棉被，了解手工棉被的好，37歲的他還架設了網站，讓傳統的技藝能開發新的市場，也讓傳統技術不會失傳。
