After the July downpour that caused immense destruction in the Fangshan District(房山區) of Beijing, China, last week Tzu Chi volunteers distributed aid supplies and blankets to help 5,000 households. This time around, they visited the towns of Shidu(十渡), Zhangfang(張坊) and Dashiwo(大石窩) in Fangshan District, and followed up on the local government”s reconstruction plan.

In 2009, the entire village of Xiaolin was wiped out by a mudslide during the 88 flood, that killed nearly 500 villagers. Grieved by their loss, family members of the disaster victims decided to return home and rebuild their home. Today, we go back to Kaohsiung”s Xiaolin (小林) Village to see how residents are recovering from the disaster.
