Hatred and resentment make one”s life ugly.

2nd shipment of water arrives

The worst flooding in 70 years has paralyzed many parts of Thailand for four months. The army and police have been on the frontline. One of their problems is the lack of clean drinking water for the troops. Last month, Tzu Chi Malaysia delivered its first shipment of water, for the army. Recently, the second shipment arrived, and was handed over to the navy and the police, who received 80,000 and 40,000 bottles respectively.

Hot food for flooded Lopburi

In the center of Thailand, Tzu Chi volunteers have been cooking hot food for stranded residents, with the help of local people, who jumped at the chance to join the ranks of the volunteers. We caught up with the hard-working team, as they delivered meals to a flooded community in Lopburi province.

Happy Loi Kratong!

Loi Kratong, or the ”Festival of Light”, is celebrated in Thailand on the full moon of the 12th month on the Thai calendar. ”Loi” means to float, while a ”kratong” is a water lantern. On the day, which fell on November 10th this year, water lanterns are floated on the river. Once released, the elaborate lanterns can clog up the streams. So this year, in light of the flood that has paralyzed Thailand, the people of hard-hit Lopburi Province plan to retrieve the lanterns, from the river, once the celebrations are over.

As people continue to create karma, long-term retribution is a culmination of wrong decisions. The impurities that plague our world all begin with careless thoughts.
Through the guidance of selfless love, we can find salvation for our minds and the environment.

Tzu Chi in Gansu

In China”s Gansu Province, Tzu Chi finished building Laiyao Da Ai Village in January of this year; and 210 households of 1,050 residents moved from Ruoli Township, on the dry Gansu plateau, into their new homes. The village school is still under construction, but recently the beam-raising ceremony took place, bringing the dream of high quality education one step closer to the residents.
