Coming up in today”s show, Tzu Chi volunteers in Taoyuan are tending to victims of a fire in Zhongli, and also holding a blessing ceremony for the community. Singapore Tzu Chi volunteer, Gao Rongfa (高榮發) is leaving his high-paid job as a butcher to stop creating bad karma. And, in our feature reports on Taiwan”s fading trades, we meet Ding Hanli(丁漢利), a harbor pilot in Kaohsiung with over 25 years of experience.

1. 中壢火災關懷

First up in Taiwan, in early August, a family of 7 members in Taoyuan”s Zhongli (中壢), suffered an explosive fire, leaving 5 dead and with the other 2 severely injured and hospitalized. In the aftermath of the blaze, Tzu Chi volunteers immediately mobilized to care for the disaster victims and bereaved family members, and also visited their neighbors to bring emotional comfort. Last week, volunteers returned to hold a blessing ceremony to settle the hearts of the community”s residents and lent their support in facing this devastating event.

首先來看，在八月初，桃園縣中壢市發生民宅氣爆，有五人往生、兩人住院，慈濟志工前往關懷，不只是膚慰受災的住戶，也安撫左鄰右舍。上周，更是特地到社區舉辦祈福會，安定大家的心，以及面對這次的意外。

2. 宏國本土培訓

Next, 12 Tzu Chi volunteers from the United States flew to Honduras, to prepare for the ”2012 Central America Tzu Chi Volunteers Training Workshop”, which will be held in the municipality of Marcovia on the 1st and 2nd of September. This is the first training workshop held in Central America and was joined by over 100 local volunteers from Honduras and El Salvador.

接下來，12位美國慈濟志工前往中美洲宏都拉斯，籌備 2012年中美洲聯合志工培訓研習營，地點在馬可比雅市，時間是9月1號和2號，這是中美洲首次舉辦志工培訓，有超過一百位的宏都拉斯和薩爾瓦多的本土志工參與。

3. 印吉祥月

Moving to Asia, throughout the 7th lunar month, the Indonesia Tzu Chi Chapter has been promoting, the right belief of Buddhism through a series of public events. Over 100 Tzu Chi volunteers performed the ”Sutra of Profound Gratitude towards Parents” in a local community of Jakarta. While in Batam, local Tzu Chi volunteers used short plays to encourage people to eat vegetarian meals, to avoid superstitious notions, and to refrain from burning joss paper.

鏡頭轉到亞洲，七月吉祥月期間，慈濟印尼分會宣導佛教正知正念，有一百多位慈濟志工在雅加達的一處社區演繹父母恩重難報經，志工以短劇演出，鼓勵大家多茹素，打破迷信，不燒金紙。

4. 星廚師轉業

As a kitchen worker in a hotel, Singapore Tzu Chi volunteer Gao Rongfa”s (高榮發)duties included slaughtering various animals. Last year, after becoming acquainted with Tzu Chi, he realized that he would pay a terrible karmic price for taking lives, so he resigned from his high-paying job. Changing careers in midlife is never easy, but Gao is determined to stick to his beliefs. Now, his heart is at peace and his life is more fulfilling.

新加坡慈濟志工高榮發原本是在飯店廚房工作，每天就是宰殺各類的動物，去年認識慈濟後，深知殺業因果的可怕，於是毅然辭去收入豐厚的工作，儘管中年轉業不容易，他堅持信念，現在心安了，日子也過得更踏實。

5. 戒酒做環保

Back to Taiwan”s Taoyuan(桃園), recycling volunteer Zhang Jinfu(張進福) has been an alcoholic since young. The large amount of alcohol consumption has not only put his health at risk, but has costed him his career. Luckily, he tuned in to Da Ai TV one day, and was inspired to join recycling work. Since then, Zhang Jinfu has stopped drinking and has been sorting recyclables at the local recycling station, rain or shine. Through devoting himself in safeguarding the planet, Zhang has become healthier, and also found a new purpose in life.

在台灣的桃園地區，一位環保志工張進福，年輕時酗酒成性，讓他損壞健康，也毀了自己的事業，還好在一次偶然的機會看到大愛台，主動到環保站做環保，從此酒不再喝了，而且風雨無阻到回收站做環保，做環保志工，不但改善他的健康，也讓他找到人生的目標。

6. 廈門居家關懷

In Xiamen of China”s Fujian Province, local Tzu Chi volunteers regularly visit care recipients to bring warmth and love to those in need. This time, they visited a little boy and a cancer patient. 13-year-old Xu Linchang(許林昌) suffered a head injury, which left his left hand slightly paralyzed. Volunteers are paying him monthly visits to help him with rehab. And as for Mrs. Ye, a cancer patient, she was moved by the volunteers” devotion and decided to join Tzu Chi to help people like herself.

福建廈門慈濟志工定期做居家關懷，用大愛溫暖許多人苦悶的心，這次他們拜訪一位小男孩以及癌症病人。13歲的許林昌腦部受傷，造成左手活動不便，志工每個月都來協助進行復健；另一位罹患癌症的葉太太，則是受到志工的感動，主動要加入慈濟，跟著志工一起助人。

7. 另類記者(8)林素月

Presently in Taiwan”s Hualien and Kaohsiung, there are media centers for Da Ai TV, but Taitung, which is three hours away by car from either Hualien or Kaohsiung, relies heavily on Tzu Chi media volunteers to report the news. One media volunteer, Lin Suyue (林素月), does it all, from reporting, to photography to video recording, she really is a one woman show.

大愛台目前在花蓮與高雄有地方中心的編制，但在台東，距離花蓮與高雄都要三個小時的車程，必須仰賴人文真善美的及時補位，其中台東地區的真善美志工林素月，從文字記錄、相片拍攝，到拿起攝影機錄影，通通一手包辦。

8. 引水人

According to international regulations, when a ship enters any harbor around the globe, apart from informing the country of its arrival, the vessel also needs to ask the local harbor pilot to guide them into the port. The pilot needs to be familiar with the harbor”s terrain and have a good knowledge of the size of each vessel to correctly lead them into the harbor. To become one of these harbor pilots is no easy task as one is required to have the skills of a captain, and regardless of the weather conditions, must be on a 24-hour standby to guide all vessels coming in and out of the port. In our continuing series on the island”s fading trades, we meet Ding Hanli(丁漢利), an expert in his trade who has over 25 years of experience. Here”s more.

根據國際法規，船隻要駛入各國港口時，除了報備當地國家之外，船隻得請當地的引水人員帶領船隻入港，這引水人員得對港口內的地形水文瞭若指掌，更要清楚大小船隻的特性、如何操控，才能正確領導船隻入港。引水人員，有人稱他們為「領港」，他們都要具備船長資格，在岸邊二十四小時待命，即使刮風下雨天候狀況惡劣，都得準備好出港登上外國船隻。在我們今天的真情臉譜專題中，我們來認識丁漢利 ，擁有超過25年的經驗，讓我們一起來看看。
