Coming up in today”s show, in an effort to decontaminate dirty flood water in Thailand, the government is using effective microorganisms, to try and cancel out the germs.
In our final visit to North Korea, we meet Tzu Chi volunteer and fluent speaker of Korean, Cui Meixian, who acted as the interpreter for the aid team.
And Tzu Chi helps more children in China stay in school, as the New Shoots scholarship program reaches Fujian and Guangdong provinces.

But we start today”s show in Hualien, Taiwan, where the third class of simulated operations, this year, started at Tzu Chi University, yesterday. At half-past-six in the morning, relatives of the eight full-body donors, together with medical students, were led through a ceremony, by Buddhist nuns from the Jing Si Abode. The class will go on for four days.
節目一開始，帶大家到台灣花蓮，慈濟大學100學年度第三梯次模擬手術教學，昨天開始展開四天的課程，清晨六點半，八位大體老師的家屬們與慈大醫學院學生，在精舍師父的帶領下，舉行啟用儀式，課程會持續四天。
2.世紀泰水劫(3) Flood health hazards
In Thailand, filthy flood water, which has troubled the country for over four months, is spreading communicable diseases, and endangering public health. Some of the hazards include dengue fever, diarrhea, leptospirosis, typhoid fever and skin infections. In response, the government plans to produce 840,000 so-called effective microorganism balls, which will be tossed into the festering pools, in the hope that the beneficial microbes will purify the water. Opinion is divided on whether EM balls will be effective. Meanwhile, although floods continue to recede in some areas, hospitals are in danger of running out of medical supplies, and new shipments are nowhere in sight.
泰國大水超過四個月，正散播著細菌，影響居民的健康，有些人出現登革熱、拉肚子、細菌感染、發燒以及皮膚病的症狀，政府單位決定製作出，84萬顆的微生物球，希望能有效淨化汙水，而在大水開始消退的同時，當地的醫院也可能面臨醫療物資不足，又無法得到補給的窘境。

3.北緯38度(6) Different interpretation
To help mitigate the recent natural disasters in North Korea, Tzu Chi sent an aid relief team to the country, to distribute food to struggling villagers. One of the members of the team was 72-year-old volunteer, Cui Meixian. A fluent speaker of Korean, she acted as the interpreter for the team. She also helped break the ice, wherever she went.
為了幫助北朝鮮受災民眾，慈濟賑災團隊來到這裡，為鄉親帶來物資援助，在這次賑災團隊伍中，有一位七十二歲的慈濟志工崔美仙，熟悉北朝鮮話的她，全程擔任翻譯，不論她走到何處，都能帶來歡笑。
4.廣東廈門助學 Helping students continue studies
From North Korea to China, where Tzu Chi volunteers in Guangdong and Fujian recently organized scholarship distributions to help needy students continue their studies. But, Tzu Chi”s support does more than just keep children in school. The young pupils promise to give back to charity in the future, in return for the help that they are receiving today.

5.深圳堆素食 Vegetarianism in Shenzhen
International Vegetarian Day, is celebrated on the 25th of November, in Asian countries. Tzu Chi volunteers in China”s Guangdong Province came together, to organized an event in Shenzhen, to promote a healthy meatless diet, with the public. After the activity was over, the participants said they would help spread the word to their families and friends.
在亞洲，11月25號是國際素食日，為了推廣健康的素食料理，在中國廣東慈濟志工一起於深圳鵬益會所，向當地居民推廣素食，在活動過後，許多居民都發願要將素食也推廣給身邊的人。
《 衲履足跡 》 On Filial Piety 談感恩行孝
All parents are faced with hardships and challenges, so do not complain too much about them. Be open-hearted, understanding, hardworking, and reciprocate your parents” love, and society as well.
父母有父母的辛勞，也有他們本身的問題，不要過於埋怨父母；能開闊心胸予以善解，勤奮、努力，回報辛苦撫養自己的長輩，也回饋社會，才是自愛的好人生。
6.慈中環保有功 EPA recognizes planet guardians
In Taiwan, the Environmental Protection Administration recently gave out awards to schools, communities, NGOs and individuals for being good guardians of the planet. Among the 123 recipients was: Tzu Chi Senior High School Affiliated with Tzu Chi University. The Hualien school was recognized for its green design, and its environmental training program.
台灣的環保署最近表揚肯定國內致力於環境保護的學校，社區團體與個人，123受獎者中包括軟硬體都很環保的花蓮慈大附中。
7.創意再生家具 Let furniture live on
At a reused furniture factory, owned by the Changhua Department of Environmental Protection, in central Taiwan, the small team of carpenters, have been joined by architecture and interior design students from Da-Yeh University. The gifted young people had some fresh ideas, to turn old furniture into new products.
彰化縣環保局的再生家具工廠，通常只有幾個木工師傅，承擔回收家具的整修工作，不過現在有一群年輕人加入，因為環保局和大葉大學的空間設計系建教合作，讓學生們能夠把環保創意實體化。
8.★1202歷史的今天 On this day, the 2nd of December
1929 Homo erectus unearthed
Zhoukoudian (周口店) near Beijing, China has yielded many archaeological findings since 1918, the most famous discovery of which was one of the first specimens of Homo erectus, which was excavated on this day in 1929. The prehistoric fossils, which were ancestors of modern humans, took the world by storm. Zhoukoudian was consequently listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
1996 Murder of Peng Wanru
Peng Wanru, the director of the Department of Women”s Development of Taiwan”s Democratic Progressive Party, disappeared in 1996 while attending a meeting in Kaohsiung. On this day of the same year, the party issued posters of the missing woman, with a reward of one million NT dollars. Peng”s body was found the very next day, alerting the entire country to the issue of women”s safety. The Sexual Assault Prevention Act and Gender Equity Education Act were soon passed. The Peng Wanru Foundation was also set up to promote women”s safety.
2007 KL TC free clinic center opens
In Malaysia, on this day in 2007 Tzu Chi”s third free clinic center after Malacca and Klang was established in Kuala Lumpur. Buddhist leaders of all denominations came to join the opening ceremony. The new free clinic would provide healthcare services to solitary seniors, indigenous communities, and low-income families on government welfare; in addition, regular health screenings would also be held to promote preventive medicine.
1929年，北京直立人出土，揭開人類起源，中國大陸北京周口店，自從1918年，挖掘出大量人類化石，1929年這天發掘出一個直立人的骨頭，為人類祖先直立人的明確證據，轟動全球，而周口店遺址也被列為世界文化遺產。
1996年，彭婉如失蹤案，催生婦女安全，台灣民進黨婦女部主任彭婉如到高雄參加會議，卻離奇失蹤，民進黨中央這天發出協尋專刊，懸賞一百萬元呼籲民眾協尋，警方在隔天發現彭婉如遺體，引發社會關注婦女人身安全，包括性侵害犯罪防治法以及性別平等教育法，都陸續通過，而彭婉如基金會，也積極打造台灣為婦女安全島。
2007年，吉隆坡義診中心，社區醫療守護愛，繼馬六甲 巴生等地之後，馬來西亞2007年這天再成立吉隆坡慈濟義診中心，邀請馬來西亞佛教界南傳與北傳長老共同揭幕，提供當地獨居老人、原住民以及持有政府福利卡的低收入戶民眾醫療服務，也定期舉辦社區健檢，推展預防醫學。
9.馬慈幼教師營 Educating teachers
Staff at the Tzu Chi Da Ai Educare Center in Penang, Malaysia, held a two-day camp for kindergarten teachers, from Penang, as well as Bayan Lepas, Butterworth, and Nibong Tebal. The teachers discussed the past year, and made preparations for 2012.
馬來西亞慈濟幼兒園的教職員，在檳城慈濟幼兒園舉辦了為期兩天的慈濟幼兒園教師共識營，聚集了檳城、峇六拜、北海和高淵的慈濟幼兒園的教職員一起參與，大家除了檢討今年的教案，更開始準備明年2012的教案。
10.廖玉雲懺殺業 New Year Blessing in Kaohsiung
Back in Taiwan, on Wednesday, Master Cheng Yen traveled to Kaohsiung, where she spoke at a year-end blessing ceremony, for environmental volunteers. Altogether 5,000 volunteers came to hear her speak. Tzu Chi”s founder thanked them for their hard work; and also expressed her hope, that the volunteers would continue their study of the Water Repentance sutra, to cultivate and clear minds, as well as keeping the environment clean.
回到台灣，證嚴上人星期三針對大高雄地區環保菩薩進行歲末祝福，近五千位環保菩薩前來參與，接受上人的感恩，證嚴上人也期盼人人能夠深入經藏，淨化人心，找回清淨本性。
