We start the show in Pasig City in the Philippines Metro Manila, where Tzu Chi volunteers recently held a rice distribution. This time, a total of 806 families received the rice. To ensure the success of the distribution, before the event, volunteers visited the beneficiaries and handed out rice vouchers to the families that qualified for aid.

The money donated by the rich or poor is going around the world to help those in greater need, such as the disadvantaged students in China”s more remote regions. For several years now, Tzu Chi volunteers in the country have traveled far and wide to deliver scholarship aid to worthy students in need. Pupils also do their part to give back to society in the best way they can.

Blessings come from being sincere and pious in each and every moment. Peace comes from being compassionate and kind-hearted in daily life.

The fatal auto accident inside Taiwan”s Hsuehshan Tunnel on May seventh caused serious public concern on the safety of the fifth longest tunnel in the world. When the tunnel opened six years ago, the speed limit was 70 km/h, and vehicles needed to maintain a safe following distance of 50 m. However, the speed limit has since been raised to 80 km/h and now 90 km/h, while the safe distance remains unchanged. In the continuation of our featured series on the tunnel, we find out what lessons were learned after the latest accident, which has already prompted the National Highway Bureau to evaluate the possibility of increasing the safe distance of large vehicles to 100 m.

According to the Singkawang Health Bureau, over 300 children in the Indonesian town are undernourished. In order to help, Tzu Chi and the local health department came together to offer a free health clinic for these ill-fed children. Volunteers also put together a healthy and nutritious care package for the youngsters and their families.

Staying in Indonesia, we introduce to you 32-year-old Wulan and her family. Wulan”s third child, two-year-old Nadia, was born with multiple illnesses and has already undergone three surgeries. The medical expenses put the family under a lot of financial pressure. The desperate mother, who is also a loyal viewer of Da Ai TV, decided to seek help from Tzu Chi. After a home visitation to Wulan, Tzu Chi volunteers started providing the struggling family with financial and emotional support.

A mother”s unconditional love is indeed the greatest support a child can ever have. To raise awareness of the importance of acknowledging our parents” love, in Penghu, Taiwan, Tzu Chings from the National Penghu University of Science and Technology, held a gathering to get the message across to their fellow students.

On Peace and Harmony

Social harmony is a blessing for all citizens, and harmony on Earth is a blessing for all mankind. No matter which country we are from, we need to discipline ourselves to avoid contributing to chaos and discord in society.

Song Jiang Zhen Battle Array is a martial art performance often seen at Taiwan”s major temple fairs. Every ”soldier” in the formation carries a shield, made from bamboo. In our regular feature on Taiwan”s traditional industries, we meet Weng Minghui, a 79-year-old from Tainan who has been making these shields for almost 60 years. According to the old craftsman, there were a lot of people in his community using bamboo to weave handicrafts, but very few of them considered making shields for their lack of commercial value, as orders only come in a few months a year. To this day Weng Minghui insists on making the bamboo shields with his own two hands- the only way he knows how.

In Taichung, volunteer Chen Huiying(陳惠瑛) was diagnosed with cervical cancer when she was 39 years old. After a successful treatment, the cancer survivor joined Tzu Chi and has been a committed volunteer to this day. In addition to making coin banks from used donation receipts, for the past 4 years Chen Huiying has also given half of her salary to Tzu Chi.

At the end of the show, we meet the members of another Tzu Ching Club, this time from Taiwan”s National Tsing Hua University, who actively promoted vegetarianism on campus by offering free meatless food to the students. We”ll leave you with these images. Thank you for tuning in. Goodbye.
