●After first carrying out a survey in April, Myanmar”s Tzu Chi volunteers return to Thanlyin Township with rice seedlings for over 2,000 farmers.

●As Mother”s Day draws near, Tzu Chi volunteers around the world get ready to also celebrate Buddha Day; we check out preparations in Tzu Chi offices across Asia.

●And, 16 Tzu Chings from northern California who will be graduating soon are treated to a graduation banquet at the local Tzu Chi office.

1.緬甸稻種發放

Myanmar”s Thanlyin Township in Yangon Province experienced flooding last year which resulted in a poor harvest for local farmers. To help, in April, Tzu Chi volunteers carried out an assessment to better understand the needs of these residents and recently returned to hand out rice seedlings to 2,068 families from nine villages.

在緬甸仰光省的丹茵鎮,去年雨季因為河水高漲,使得農作物被淹沒,為了協助這些農夫,4月時,慈濟志工展開勘災活動,以便了解居民的需求,之後舉行發放,將稻種送到9個村裡的2068戶家庭。

2.美侖書軒四周年

Back to Taiwan, the Jing Si Books and Cafe located inside the Parkview Hotel in Huanlien celebrated its 4th anniversary. To mark the occasion Tzu Chi volunteers invited hotel guests to enjoy a music concert and immerse themselves in a rich selection of Jing Si publications.

轉到台灣,花蓮美侖飯店內的靜思書軒,最近慶祝四週年,特別舉辦了一場音樂會,邀請大家聆聽好音樂,和一同沉浸在書香中。


3.志護張秀麗

Residents of Taiwan”s Hualien, Zhang Xiuli”s張秀麗 family has been under Tzu Chi”s wing since Xiuli was small. Determined to one day reciprocate the love she has received, Xiuli decided to enroll in the Tzu Chi College of Technology to become a nurse. She will soon graduate and join the local Tzu Chi Hospital in June.

張秀麗一家人住在台灣花蓮,從秀麗小時候就是慈濟的照顧戶,從小就決定要回饋社會的秀麗,決定就讀慈濟技術學院的護理系,要成為一位護士,不久後她就要畢業,將加入花蓮慈願服務。

4.2012浴佛總彩

Sunday, May 13, Tzu Chi volunteers around the world will be observing a tri-celebration of Mother”s Day, Buddha Day and Global Tzu Chi Day. For the past few years in Taipei, Tzu Chi”s Buddha Day ceremony has been taking place in Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, and this year is no exception.On Sunday, May 6, more than 10,000 volunteers gathered at the venue for the last rehearsal. All persisted with the run-through despite the searing temperature.

5月13日周日,就是佛誕節、母親節、全球慈濟日,三節合一,慈濟基金會每年都會在中正紀念堂舉行浴佛大典,而今年也是如此,5月6日週日,超過一萬名志工,來到中正紀念堂總彩排,大家依舊不畏烈日,把握時間加緊練習。


5.馬浴佛準備(四)

Moving on to Malaysia”s Kuala Lumpur, thanks to his son”s participation in the 2010 Buddha Day Ceremony, Chen Fu (陳福) who suffered a stroke twice and his wife were inspired to join Tzu Chi. Till this day, the family is committed to Tzu Chi”s mission. We find out more.

鏡頭轉到馬來西亞吉隆玻,慈濟志工陳福,曾經兩次中風,因為兒子參加2010年浴佛典禮的因緣,跟太太一起加入了慈濟,直到今天 一家人依舊十分發心,一起來看看。


6.星浴佛邀約

Like their counterparts across the world, Tzu Chi volunteers in Singapore have been preparing for the upcoming Buddha Day celebration. This year, volunteers have gathered a total of 1920 people to join together to hold up cards that will spell out both the number 46-which represents the age of Tzu Chi-and two bodhi trees leaves which represents the Buddha.

就像其他國家的慈濟人一樣,新加坡的慈濟志工,用心籌劃即將到來的浴佛節,今年新加坡分會動員1920人,排成46數字和兩片菩提葉的圖騰,代表慈濟46周年及佛教的象徵。


7.印浴佛宣導

Tzu Chi”s Indonesia Chapter will be holding this year”s Buddha Day ceremony at their Jing Si Hall in North Jakarta. To promote the event, Tzu Chi volunteers used their time after work to go door to door to hand out brochures. Volunteers hope to invite more people to do good deeds and better understand the meaning behind the ceremony.

慈濟印尼分會即將在北雅加達,卡布新村靜思堂舉行浴佛典禮,為了推廣這次的活動,慈濟志工特地利用下班時間,挨家挨戶發傳單、做宣導,志工們希望邀請更多人,一起做善事,並了解浴佛儀式背後的意義。


《 衲履足跡 》談浴佛 On Buddha Day

For Tzu Chi, every year the Buddha Day ceremony is a special day to gather everyone”s faithful hearts. However, standing for a long time may decrease ones faithfulness. Master Cheng Yen hoped everyone who joined the ceremony could earn happiness and carry it on.

全球慈濟浴佛大典,是每年例行的殊勝典禮,要凝聚大家最虔誠的心,但是久站疲倦難免消磨虔誠心。希望能做到只要讓人接觸到了,就起歡喜心,也讓它能長久存在。


8.蘇環保沙鈴

In Suzhou, China, Tzu Chi volunteers have become experts at using recycled materials to create new and unusual items and toys. Whether it is for children or to help bring excitement to an event, these items can be seen at almost every Tzu Chi sponsored activities. Let”s take a look.

在蘇州,慈濟人利用回收物,創造出又新、又獨特的物品以及玩具,不管是給孩子玩,或是為活動增添歡樂的物品,都在不同的訪視場合,發揮大大的用途,一起來看看。


9.東莞環保愛灑

Staying in China but moving on to Guangdong Province, recently, Dongguan”s Tzu Chi volunteers visited the Junior Oxford Bilingual School to share their knowledge on conservation work. Through a video clip and a stage play by the volunteers, the students realized that environmental protection cannot wait.

也是中國的報導,鏡頭轉到廣東東莞,慈濟志工來到小牛津國際學校,宣導環保,慈濟志工透過做環保的影片,以及行動劇,讓學生了解環保是刻不容緩的事情。


10.北加慈青畢業

In the United States, college students are getting ready to graduate. To help send off the graduating Tzu Chings in northern California , the local Tzu Chi office recently held a banquet. Here”s more.

美國又將進入畢業的季節,北加州慈濟志工,特地為16位應屆畢業慈青,舉辦了一場感恩餐會,一起來看看。


11.越活越美麗

As Taiwan becomes an aging society, how do seniors plan their golden years? In her latest book, Taiwanese writer Jian Wan (簡宛) interviewed six women over the age of 50, including tea dye master Lai Fengqin賴鳳琴, dance teacher Li Xin李昕. The women spoke about how they found new lives through their professions and hope to inspire others to live their lives to the fullest regardless of their age.

台灣逐漸邁入高齡化的社會,銀髮族該如何做生涯規劃,讓生活更精彩?台灣作家簡宛採訪,六位五十歲以上的女性,包括茶染達人賴鳳琴,舞蹈老師李昕等,介紹他們如何在工作崗位上,活出自己,透過他們的故事也希望,啟發更多人讓生活,過得更有價值。

This coming Sunday will be Mother”s Day. In the United States, Tzu Chi volunteers in Las Vegas visited a home for the blind and brought carnations for the residents. The residents reciprocated by donating their bamboo banks and collecting five large bags of recyclables. We join the event at the end of today”s program. Thank you for watching. Goodbye.
