1. 菲計順火災 Bringing aid to Filipino fire victims

In the Philippines, at 2:00am on September 19, a fire ravaged Barangay Man-re-sa in Quezon City, resulting in 2 deaths and the destruction of 300 houses, which left more than 500 families homeless. Tzu Chi volunteers visited the temporary shelter in the disaster area to distribute aid supplies and 10 kilo of rice to the fire victims.

菲律賓計順市的曼若薩里，在9月19日的凌晨二點發生大火造成二人死亡，三百間房屋全毀 五百多戶家庭無家可歸，志工探訪災區，前往收容所了解狀況，決定發放生活物資和十公斤大米 給災民 。

2.德州艾薩克發放 Tzu Chi volunteers to lend a hand

Hurricane Isaac struck the southern part of the United States at the end of August, causing catastrophic damage in the state of Louisiana. As reconstruction work has been difficult, Tzu Chi volunteers from the Texas Tzu Chi Chapter, arrived to distribute cash cards and blankets to 327 affected families.

八月底艾薩克颶風侵襲美國南部，造成路易斯安那州災情慘重，重建困難重重，德州慈濟志工接獲通報，跨州前往發放現值卡和毛毯總共幫助327戶。

3.快行優先BRT(三) Changzhou’s BRT system in China

In the city of Changzhou(常州) in China’s Jiangsu(江蘇) Province, we find a perfect example of how the BRT can help improve a city’s quality of life. Finished in 2008, the BRT line in Changzhou(常州) already boasts 350,000 riders a day, with 43 percent of these riders former car users. Thanks to the speed and conveniences of the buses, more and more residents are choosing the BRT as their first choice, when having to travel in or across town.



在中國江蘇省的常州市，這裡的BRT系統 提升了當地市民的生活品質，而且沒有耗費大量成本，建造地下鐵，2008年 BRT系統完工，常州每天的載運量有35萬人次，其中有4成3的人，曾經都開私家車通勤，有了BRT公車的便捷服務，越來越多居民利用BRT通勤來往市中心。





4.嘉義BRT Chiayi implements BRT buses



In the past few days, we have been learning about BRT buses around the globe, but did you know that Taiwan has also implemented the system? In Chiayi(嘉義), the BRT buses were originally put in place to help passengers, transfer from the High Speed Rail station to the local railway station. However, over the past 4 years, Chiayi has added more stops along the way, to include businesses and popular tourist areas, making commuting around Chiayi easier than ever.



過去幾天 ，我們一直在報導全球的BRT，可是你知道嗎，台灣也有BRT的，在嘉義 BRT的成立，協助了高鐵和台鐵接駁轉運的乘客，可是四年下來，路線多結合商業與觀光，因此嘉義路程通輸方便多了。





5.節能照明導覽 College students’ brilliant inventions



Have you ever visited a museum that had no tour guides, and all you are left with, is a DIY headset, which you have to fumble with, to punch in the right numbers? Students at Shu-Te(樹德) University have come up with an invention to solve the problem. The students use LED lights and sensors, to transmit information to a headset automatically, giving us the option of browsing effortlessly at our own pace.



您有遇過，到了博物館參觀沒有解說人員引導的困擾，卻要帶著導覽器參觀，又得輸入代號等瑣碎的手續讓參觀變的麻煩，樹德科大的團隊設計出利用LED燈光傳輸，要解決這樣的問題，讓參觀者只要站在想看的作品前，戴上有著接收器的耳機就能聽到解說，這樣的小發明未來可以用在辦公室中，減少使用無線電磁波。





6.360動物保育員 Senior zoo keeper, Qiu Shizhu



When visiting the Shoushan(壽山) Zoo, in Kaohsiung, one gets to enjoy seeing a variety of animals, from the gorillas, elephants, to tigers. However, taking care of these animals is no easy task. Next, we meet senior zoo keeper, 62-year-old Qiu Shizhu(邱石柱), who has over 3 decades of experiences in caring for these animals. Many also refer to Qiu, as the super nanny of the zoo, for the passion and love that he shows when taking care of these animals.



來到高雄的壽山動物園，可以看到調皮的猴子、大象，還有威風的老虎 ，但照顧起這些動物卻不簡單，在今天的真情臉譜專題，我們來認識資深的動物保育員，62歲的邱石柱在園區服務超過三十年 ，因為對動物的熱誠與愛護，有人稱他為動物的超級奶爸。





7.印尼靜思堂(二) Tzu Chi is my favorite



In the city of Su-ra-baya of Indonesia, Tzu Chi volunteer Chen Suzhen(陳素真) has been devoting herself to every aspect of Tzu Chi’s missions---from practicing recycling to taking part in home visitations and much more.



印尼泗水的慈濟志工陳素真全心投入慈濟，參加環保、訪視各種活動，為了啟發更多人走慈濟路。





8.香港燒烤場回收 Garbage left from Moon Festival



In Hong Kong, many people celebrated the Moon Festival, at a barbecue site in Wu Kai Sha(烏溪沙) of Ma On Shan(馬鞍山), and the next day, the place was left covered in rubbish. Tzu Chi volunteers arrived after the festival, and cleaned out almost 40 bags of garbage.



在香港為了慶祝中秋節，許多人都在馬鞍山烏溪沙的白石燒烤場烤肉，但隔天留下的就是滿滿的垃圾，節日過後，志工一一做分類，整理出四十袋的垃圾。

1.萬隆車禍 Tending to vehicle accident victims

In West Java, Indonesia, on a mountain road prone to accidents in Bandung, another tour bus found itself involved in misfortune, killing 4 tourists and injuring 9. To this day, there are still 8 passengers in the hospital, and Indonesia Tzu Chi volunteers are lending support to those in need.

印尼西爪哇省山區路上，驚傳遊覽車翻覆意外，四人不幸死亡，九名台灣旅客受傷，目前還有八人仍在醫院治療，印尼慈濟志工已經前往醫院探視關懷。

2.美馬哈威發放 Bring care to Mojave Desert

In the United States, the Mojave Desert is home to a group of illegal immigrants and farmers with no medical insurance. 2 weeks ago, they were jolted by over 200 earthquakes and a sudden rain storm, resulting in a severe flooding. To help the residents, on September 22nd, Tzu Chi volunteers brought 300 barrels of cleaning supplies.

在美國，馬哈威沙漠住著一群沒有醫療保險的農工和非法移民，兩個禮拜前，那裡遭遇兩百多次地震，加上突如其來的暴雨，造成當地鹹水湖氾濫成災，9月22日 為此慈濟志工帶了三百多桶清潔用品。

3.菲火災發放 Fire destroys 63 houses

In the Philippines, a community in Pa-ra-na-que City was struck by a fire that destroyed 63 houses, leaving 170 families without roofs over their heads. After conducting a disaster assessment, Tzu Chi volunteers quickly held a relief distribution that helped victims regain the strength to move on.

菲律賓巴蘭迎計市，蘇卡區的亞斯查達里遭到大火襲擊，燒毀63棟房屋，造成170戶無家可歸，堪災後，慈濟志工趕緊展開發放幫助災民，恢復重建生活的力量。

4.菲牙科啟用 TC dental clinic finally open

Staying in the Philippines, but moving to Marikina City, the dental department at the Tzu Chi Free Clinic Center, officially opened on September 7th. Since then, every Friday and Saturday, TIMA doctors and Tzu Chi volunteers have been providing dental services to the local residents.

也是菲律賓的報導，來到馬利僅那市慈濟環保教育站旁的牙科中心，在9月7日 正式啟用了，每個星期星期五及六，人醫會醫師和志工為當地居民提供拔牙、洗牙及補牙的服務。

5.快行優先BRT(二)路權革命A BRT system for the people of Taiwan

Next, we visit Seoul, the capital city of South Korea, which, since 2004, has been working to limit the amount of vehicle use by the city’s residents, through such programs as the BRT. Thanks to the city’s promotion of public transportation system, vehicle use has dropped by 20 percent, as commuters and residents are increasingly finding the BRT, a quick and convenient solution to their transportation needs.

今天鏡頭來南韓首爾，2004年起，首爾就開始限制市民使用的運輸工具量，市政府提出的交通改革計畫，讓私人駕駛工具減少兩成的使用率，而通勤人員和市民發現，BRT真的是便捷的通勤方式，一起來看看首爾如何改革他們的交通運輸方式。

6.360導盲犬訓練師 Guide dog trainer, Zhong Haoyu

Today, we are meeting a guide dog trainer, Zhong Haoyu(鍾皓羽), and her currently- under-training guide dog, ‘Add’. We often see these guide dogs on the roads, helping the visually impaired travel to their destination. In fact, it takes a great amount of effort and care to train one of these guide dogs.

今天要帶您來認識導盲犬訓練師鍾皓羽，以及正在受訓的狗狗 Add，我們常常會在路上看到導盲犬協助主人去他們要去的地方，實際上，要照顧與訓練導盲犬是需要花上很多時間跟精力的。

7.印尼靜思堂(一) No boundary between religion and faith

For the past 18 years, Tzu Chi has been promoting its mission of helping the needy in Indonesia, where 80 percent of the population is Muslim. Seeing the good work Tzu Chi has been doing, many local residents have overcome the differences in religion and faith to join Tzu Chi’s volunteer training seminars.

在過去的18年，慈濟在印尼推廣志業以及幫助苦難人，印尼有八成的人口是穆斯林，看見慈濟做的好事情，許多當地居民跨越宗教參與慈濟的志工培訓。

8. 深圳大愛館 DA.AI Technology in Shenzhen

In China, DA.AI Technology recently opened up its first branch, in Shenzhen(深圳) of Guangdong(廣東) Province, to promote eco-friendly textiles, as well as Master Cheng Yen’s ideals of living in harmony with the planet. Local business also donated a place for volunteers to hold study groups, as a way to introduce Tzu Chi to more local residents.

在中國 大愛感恩科技公司，在廣東深圳開設了第一家分店，要將證嚴上人推動的與地球共生息理念在當地落實，業者也捐出一塊場地，固定讓慈濟志工舉辦讀書會，讓更多民眾了解慈濟。

1.澳塔拉義診 Free dental service for the needy

National health care insurance is available in Australia, however, it does not cover dental allowance and teeth scaling treatment alone costs 150 USD. On September 28, Australia’s TIMA dentists headed for Tara, a city in Queensland, to conduct their second free dental clinic this year, providing service to 46 patients.

在澳洲雖有全民健保，但牙醫不在補助範圍內，光是洗牙就要美金150元，9月28日 澳洲慈濟人醫會特地前往昆士蘭省塔拉鎮舉辦牙科義診，這已是今年第二次，共服務４６位病患。

2.人醫年會圓緣 14th Annual TIMA Conference

The 14th Annual TIMA Conference in Taiwan successfully concluded on Monday, October 1st. Doctors and nurses from 19 countries all promised, to bring Tzu Chi’s humanitarian spirit back to their home countries. Among the doctors was Pu Zaihan(朴宰漢), who saved a senior’s life when flying to Taiwan to attend the conference.

第14屆全球人醫年會在10月1日圓滿結束，來自19個國家的醫生和護士答應要將醫療人文帶回當地，其中一位醫生朴宰漢，在來台灣參加人醫年會的飛機上還救了一名老人。

3.人醫大體追思 Memorial ceremony for Silent Mentors

With the successful conclusion of the 2012 Annual TIMA Conference, the wishes of the 8 Silent Mentors’ in attendance, were also fulfilled. To mark the event, Tzu Chi’s Medical Simulation Center held a memorial ceremony for these bodhisattvas. One of the TIMA doctors was so moved by the selfless spirit of the Silent Mentors, that he later signed a written consent form to donate his body to medical science.

2012慈濟國際人醫年會圓緣，而八位大體老師捨身奉獻的心願也圓滿完成，模擬醫學中心也為這群菩薩們舉辦追思會，其中一位人醫會醫師，也決定簽署大體捐贈同意書，捐贈大體用作醫學研究。

4.快行優先BRT(一) Time to replace MRT with BRT?

The introduction of MRT, in Taipei City has done much, to make commuting, a quicker and more enjoyable experience, however, the convenience has come with a heavy price tag of over 18 billion USD. And currently only 15 percent of Taipei’s residents use the MRT system. Today, our Da Ai TV reporter takes a look at, a possible, cheaper alternative called the Bus Rapid Transit System, or BRT. The BRT system ties together a dense network of public buses, and specially designed BRT buses, to offer public transportation solutions, that match the speed of the MRT, while offering a greater service area at a fraction of the cost.

台北捷運的引進，讓通勤族進出市區更加快速、便利，但這樣的方便性帶來的卻是高達180億美元的成本，雖然捷運是全民買單，但目前只有百分之十五的台北民眾使用捷運服務，今日，大愛記者要來看看，全世界都受益良多的另一種替代運輸方案，叫作公車捷運或稱BRT，公車捷運擁有高密度的，公車網絡系統，讓民眾可以享受如同捷運一樣便捷的交通運輸，服務範圍更廣，成本更低廉。

5.科學50講 - 捷運工法(二) MRT’s new trick

With the opening of the Dongmen (東門) Station in Taipei, the flow of commuter traffic has greatly changed. Although it brings convenience to many, for those living close to the tracks, life has become a source of constant noise pollution. The MRT authority has a new trick up its’ sleeve, and that is the ‘Floating Slab Track,’ where the track and the ground are separated, thereby reducing vibration levels and noise pollution.

隨著台北東門站的通車，捷運運行的路線也將有很大的改變，但捷運帶給大多數人便利，卻同時也帶給沿線附近住家噪音太大，捷運現在多了個新法寶，浮動式道床，能將軌道與地面分開，就能有效減低對居民的影響。

6.360搜救犬訓練師 Training rescue dogs in Taiwan

You may remember in the aftermath of the 9/21 Earthquake in 1999, rescue teams from some 20 countries, arrived in Taiwan, taking with them 103 rescue dogs to help save lives. Their high level of efficiency and discipline made a deep impression on the people of Taiwan, particularly our nation’s research and rescue operation team. Over the past decade, many may question, whether we have learned from the lessons of the past, and trained our own rescue dogs. In today’s feature reports on Taiwan’s unique trades, we meet Zhou Congji(周聰吉), from Changhua(彰化) County, who has devoted himself to breeding top rescue dogs, and providing them to government free of charge. Zhou says, with every life saved, his hard work is all worthwhile.

在台灣的921地震後，您也許對外國的搜救隊印象深刻，先後有20國家的搜救隊帶來了103隻搜救犬抵達台灣協助救難工作，他們高紀律、高效率的方式，當時讓台灣民眾印象深刻，也給台灣搜救單位相當大的震撼，多年過去了或許有人會好奇，我們是否有從過去的經驗學習，並且訓練好自己的搜救犬，在今天的真情臉譜專題，我們來認識住在彰化的周聰吉，自掏腰包投入培育頂級搜救犬，甚至還無償捐給政府搜救單位，他說，每救一個人，他的辛苦就值得了。

1. 辛巴威發放 Distribution for the needy in Zimbabwe

In Zimbabwe, Tzu Chi volunteers, worked with a local epilepsy association, in Harare, to distribute rice and blankets to 500 households, with epilepsy patients. As the primary food is corn powder, it is a precious gift, for the villagers to receive rice. The volunteers involved in the distribution, were local volunteers and volunteers from South Africa, who worked together, in hopes to bring the timely help, to the local residents.

在辛巴威，慈濟志工與首都哈拉雷的癲癇協會合作，為五百戶貧困的癲癇患者家庭發放大米與毛毯等物資，這對當地以玉米粉為主食的人民來說很珍貴，發放活動的志工匯集了本土志工以及從南非來支援的志工，大家通力合作為鄉親帶來珍貴的物資。

2.莫三比克訪視 Huge poverty gap

Tzu Chi volunteers in Durban, South Africa, went to Ma-pu-to, the capital of Mo-zam-bique, on Tzu Chi’s first visit to the country. Under the guidance of local volunteers, they visited a poor community, 5km from the presidential office, to survey the needs of local residents, as well as to encourage them, to help each other.

南非德本的慈濟志工，來到莫三比克 首都馬布多，展開慈濟在莫三比克，第一次的訪視，在當地志工的帶領下，來到距離總統府五公里遠的貧困社區，了解當地民眾的困難，也鼓勵他們彼此互相幫助。

3.人醫模擬術式 TAMIG joins simulation surgery workshop

In Taiwan, at the 2012 Annual TIMA Conference, doctors from the Taiwan Association, for Minimally Invasive Gy-ne-cology also took part, in the 3rd day, of the simulation surgery workshop, on September 29th. The simulation surgery workshop, with 8 Silent Mentors, was attended by many doctors, as it was a great opportunity for them, to improve their medical skills.

在台灣9月29日，2012年國際人醫會，第三天的模擬課程，結合了國內婦產科，內視鏡學會的醫師，這次有八位大體老師的模擬課程，則有許多醫師的參與，因為這是個可以增進自己醫術的難得機會。

4.人醫魏福全 Continue to do good deeds

The 14th Annual TIMA Conference, was attended by over 500 medical staff, from 19 countries. These doctors all gathered in Hualian(花蓮), to share stories that inspire others. One doctor from China, was so moved by Tzu Chi’s mission, that he vowed to influence more people, to do good deeds and help those in need. Another doctor, from Taiwan, has helped over 23,000 patients receive re-constructive plastic surgery, and reclaim their dignity.

第14屆全球人醫年會，有來自19個國家地區，超過五百位的醫護人員參與，懷抱著悲心願力回到心靈故鄉的花蓮，一位大陸的醫生深受慈濟感動，發願要在當地帶動更多人救拔更多苦難，另一個台灣醫生已完成超幫過兩萬三千的病人例的顯微手術，為病患重建信心、尊嚴。

5.人醫紀實(三)+(四) Philippines TIMA doctor gives tirelessly

The 2012 TIMA Conference in Hualien(花蓮), is a place for doctors and medical staff, to share and exchange ideas. Singapore TIMA doctors, are making house calls, and personalizing their health care program, while their counterparts from the US, are providing free clinic services to migrant farm workers.

2012人醫會在花蓮舉辦是個給醫生輪流分享心得，新加坡人醫會推動居家往診及個人化醫療，美國人醫會卻是跟著居民義診。

6.美飛行醫師義診 Free clinic attracts crowds of patients

California’s Mojave Desert, is not only one of the hottest areas, in North America but is also home, to some of the most des-o-late communities, where many cannot afford health insurance. Tzu Chi partnered with The Flying Doctors, to organize a free clinic, for local residents.

位於美國加州的馬哈威沙漠，不但是北美洲最炎熱的地區，也居住著許多非法移民，以及貧窮農工都無法負擔醫療保險，慈濟志工與美國一個名為飛行醫師的義診組織合作，舉辦義診活動。

7. 科學50講- 捷運工法(一) Unique design of Dongmen MRT Station

The Dongmen(東門) MRT Station, officially opened on September 30th. The structural design of this MRT station, is especially unique. Engineers faced the challenging task, of constructing sturdy and safe underground tunnels. Surprisingly, one engineer found inspiration, by observing ship-worms.

捷運東門站於九月三十日通車，東門站的建造設計很特殊，在地下挖掘隧道，但不影響民眾生活，一直是工程師的難題，然而有位工程師，卻在破壞木頭的鑿船蟲身上，找到解決問題的靈感

8.新山中秋併 Helping poor dialysis patients

Tzu Chi volunteers in Johor, Malaysia, recently came together, before the Moon Festival, to make charity moon cakes. This year, the volunteers made 2,200 boxes of moon cakes, which is double, of what they used to make.

馬來西亞新山的慈濟志工為了替洗腎中心和教育中心籌募基金，在中秋節之前 製作月餅來義賣，今年，志工們總共製作2,200盒月餅，是以往的一倍以上。

9.禮盒變垃圾 Not very eco-friendly

According to Tzu Chi’s Xishe (喜捨) Recycling Station in Kaohsiung (高雄), Taiwan, there were 10 to 20 percent more, recyclables collected during the holiday than usual. On the morning of the Mid-Autumn Festival, recycling volunteers decided to dedicate their time to sorting recyclables.

根據台灣高雄，慈濟喜捨環保站估計光是中秋節回收資源量，比之前增加一到兩成，中秋節的早晨志工，志工決定利用自己的時間，來做環保。

1.賴索托發放 Aid distribution for the needy in S. Africa

First up, Lesotho Tzu Chi volunteers visited Ladybrand, in South Africa, to distribute aid supplies to needy families. Each household received two 20-kilo bags of rice and cooking oil, enough for a family of four, to get through the winter.

首先來看，賴索托慈濟志工前往南非雷迪布蘭，帶來物資給當地貧困居民，每一戶可以得到二包二十公斤的大米和食用油，要幫他們 熬過寒冬。

2.拉羅馬那發放 Ensuring the quality of education

In the Dominican Republic, Tzu Chi volunteers distributed new uniforms, stationery and school bags to students of the Tzu Chi Elementary and Middle School in La Romana, as most of the students were using short pencils and old school bags. The volunteers hope that, with the new stationery, students will focus better on their studies.

慈濟志工在多明尼加，拉羅馬那慈濟中小學發放制服、文具和書包，這裡大部分的學生用的是短鉛筆、舊書包，志工送來了文具希望他們能更努力學習。

3.昆山敬老關懷 Tzu Chi volunteers visits seniors

In China, to celebrate this year’s Moon Festival, Tzu Chi volunteers from Kunshan(昆山), Jiangsu(江蘇) Province, visited a nursing home, bringing gifts of moon cakes and handmade framed photographs to the senior residents. As always, it’s not the value of the gift that counts, but the thought behind the gift. The elderly people all enjoyed the day’s song and dance activities, and look forward to a return visit.

在中國，為了慶祝中秋節，在江蘇昆山，慈濟志工照例前往敬老院關懷，除了送月餅，志工也送來用自製相框照片，照往例，不貴重的禮物，卻是大家最美好的回憶，爺爺奶奶跟著志工唱歌、舞動雙手，期待下次的聚會。

4.北加德圓寺愛灑 Tzu Chi’s relief work worldwide

In the 30 years following the end of the Vietnam War in April, 1975, and evacuation of the US army, millions of Vietnamese people fled their homes by land or sea. Many went to the United States in search of a better life, and most settled in California and Texas. At San Jose’s Deyuan(德圓) Temple, every Sunday, over 500-600 children from Vietnamese families, arrive to learn their mother tongue. Tzu Chi volunteers were invited to share their volunteering experiences, and they also seized the opportunity to share with everyone, Tzu Chi’s signature song of ”Love and Care”.

1975年4月越戰結束美軍撤退，往後的三十多年有超過百萬以上的越南人分批從陸路海上逃離家園，其中許多逃到美國為了尋求更好的生活，他們主要分佈在加州與德州，在北加州聖荷西市的德圓寺 ，每個星期日 都有五、六百名越南裔的孩童來學越南文，慈濟志工受邀分享慈善理念，志工第一次用越南文傳達愛與關懷這首歌曲。

5.腦麻師謝昇霖 Cerebral palsy patient becomes teacher

35-year-old, Xie Shenglin (謝昇霖), is a cerebral palsy sufferer, who does not have full control of his facial muscles and limbs and his speech pattern is irregular. But Xie has overcome all these disabilities to become a special education teacher. He boasts that he’s a walking billboard for students with disabilities, and says that, with hard work and determination, anything is possible.

三十五歲的謝昇霖患有腦性麻痺，臉部與手腳會不由自主地扭曲，說話語調也跟人不同，但是他逐一克服這些生理障礙，成為出色的特教老師，他自稱是特教活廣告，他用自己當作例子，讓學生有信心，也說只要努力加上堅持就可以成功。

6.針線有情 Working hard to raise children

In our next report, we look at the lifestory of 94-year-old Cai-Lin Chai (蔡林 拆), who lives in Nantou (南投) County of Taiwan. The senior suffers from bone atrophy, which has left her with a height of less than 100cm. When she saw her neighbor didn’t have enough money to raise their three children, she adopted them, and treated them as her own children.

我們下一則新聞來看看，九十四歲住在台灣南投縣的蔡林拆阿嬤的故事，阿嬤因為骨骼萎縮導致身高不到一百公分，因看見鄰居養不起孩子，而決定領養三位養子女，阿嬤對他們就像是自己親生的一樣。

7.檳城大愛交流 How to record Tzu Chi’s stories

Recently, the Malaysia Tzu Chi Chapter held a two-day training workshop for their media volunteers. The Deputy CEO of Da Ai TV, Zhang Zunyu (張尊昱) led Da Ai TV staff in attending the event, and shared Tzu Chi’s missions with the media volunteers. He also thanked the volunteers for spreading the truth, goodness and beauty to the world.

近來，慈濟馬來西亞分會舉行人文真善美培訓課程，大愛台副總監張尊昱帶領同仁前往交流，分享人文志業的使命，也感恩真善美志工的付出，讓大家看見人間的真善美。

8.馬童心送愛 Visiting the elderly in a nursing home

The Tzu Chi Parent-Child Class in Kuantan, Malaysia, visited Tiong-hua Nursing Home to express their love and care to the elderly people. Meanwhile, in San-da-kan, Sabah, the Tzu Chi Parent-Child Class visited the home for the visually impaired, to experience the life of the blind people.

馬來西亞關丹慈濟親子成長班，拜訪華團安老院，為阿公阿嬤獻上愛心與關懷，而位於沙巴山打根親子班的小朋友，則參訪盲人院體驗視障者的生活行動。

9.香港義賣人物 Recycling unwanted items

Hong Kong Tzu Chi volunteers held a charity sale on September 15th. Prior to the event, Tzu Chi volunteer, Lv Meihui(呂美慧) used old curtain fabrics donated by others, and sewed them into beautiful cosmetic bags, which all caught the eyes of passersby at the sale. Let’s take a look.

香港的慈濟志工在9月15日舉辦義賣會，活動之前慈濟志工呂美慧，用別人捐出的舊窗簾布製作漂亮實用的化妝包，讓許多民眾愛不釋手，讓我們一起來看看。

10. 360水里蛇窯 Snake Kiln preserves the art of ceramics

In today’s feature reports on Taiwan’s fading industries, we are visiting the Snake Kiln in Nantou County’s Shuili(水里) Township. The brick pottery kiln began its operations in the era of Japanese occupation, when pottery master Lin Jiangsong(林江松) built a 31.8-meter kiln along a hillside. Four generations of the Lin family have preserved the traditional wood-firing method, which creates the earthenware’s distinctive patterns and colors. Now, Taiwan has once again taken center stage in the world of wood-fired pottery, and Snake Kiln has become both a major tourist attraction, as well as a center for teaching the art of ceramics.

台灣真情臉譜專題，帶您看南投水里蛇窯，這種燒製陶器的磚窯從日據時代就開始運作，當時製陶師傅 林江松順著山坡地興建一條31.8公尺長的磚窯，家族四代人口都投入柴燒製陶古法，造就千變萬化的色彩，現在台灣柴燒陶藝重新站上世界舞台，成了知名的觀光和教育工廠。

11. 德州中秋聯誼 A time when families reunite

This year’s Moon Festival was celebrated yesterday, September 30th. Before that, Tzu Chi volunteers in the United States, held a celebration at the Texas Tzu Chi Chapter, to which they invited members of the public to take part. Volunteers prepared a variety of performances for the participants, as well as charity moon cakes.

今年的中秋節在9月30日迎接中秋節，美國休士頓地區慈濟德州分會邀民眾團聚，志工們準備了一連串的表演，還有製作月餅來義賣。

This year’s annual TIMA conference began last Friday, September 28th, in Hualien, with over 530 medical staff from around the globe taking part. In the 4-day seminar, doctors shared their experiences in hopes of improving their medical skills, and also discussed many ways to maintain good relationships with their patients and their family members. 1.印地震發放 Tending to quake victims in Indonesia

On September 9th, Indonesia’s Java was struck by a 4.8 magnitude earthquake, which destroyed over 400 houses in the Bogor Regency. There were also nearly 500 houses damaged in the Su-ka-bu-mi Regency. In the aftermath of the earthquake, at the request of the local government, Tzu Chi volunteers went to survey the disaster area, and distributed rice and clothes to the quake victims.

九月九號印尼爪哇島發生芮氏規模4.8的地震，造成距離震央最近的茂物縣有四百多棟房子損毀，另外，在蘇加武眉縣也有近五百戶家庭受災，地震過後慈濟志工在當地政府的要求協助下，前往災區勘災並進行大米和衣物的發放。

2. 美食物倉儲二年 Food bank program in New Jersey

In the United States, New Jersey Tzu Chi Chapter has set up a food bank in their local community. Recently, Tzu Chi volunteers held a banquet on September 10th, to celebrate the second anniversary of the program. When Tzu Chi volunteers first started, only two families came to pick up the food parcel, but now the number has increased to 80.

慈濟美國新澤西分會，在社區成立食物倉儲邁入第二年之際，慈濟志工特地在九月十日舉辦感恩餐會，回想剛開始提供素食，僅有二戶來領取，但是到現在已經有八十戶。

3. 清寒助學家訪 Home visits with Tzu Chi

Every year, Tzu Chi College of Technology hands out scholarships to its needy students. Tzu Cheng fathers and Yide mothers also visit these students at home, to find out more about their learning environment. The door to door visits not only ensure the students stay on the right track, but their family members also gets to know Tzu Chi as well.

慈濟技術學院每年都會頒發助學金給家境清寒的學生，而慈誠懿德爸爸媽媽也時常走進孩子們的家庭關懷孩子的學習狀況，家訪不僅能夠了解孩子的狀況，也能和家裡的成員 建立良好關係，讓他們更認識慈濟。

4.廈門教育交流 Teachers exchanging ideas

In China’s Xiamen, a teachers’ seminar was held on September 16, with members of Tzu Chi Teachers Association from Taiwan as guest speakers. Over 130 Chinese teachers from different regions participated, and were all much inspired by the experience.

在中國廈門9月16日舉行教育交流課程，130多位來自大陸學校老師收穫豐富，表示對於與學生的教學互動會有很大的幫助。

5.天氣知多少(3) The importance of disaster prevention

According to estimates, each year Taiwan suffers losses of approximately 6.8 million USD from natural disasters, of which, over 80 percent are from typhoons. When a typhoon is forming in the seas off Taiwan, the Central Weather Bureau gathers the data necessary to predict the storm’s path, rainfall, and wind speed and force. However, weather conditions can change in an instant, and me-teo-ro-logical technology is limited. As a result, there exists a margin of error, and many question the accuracy of the CWB’s predictions. In fact, weather predictions are intended more as forewarnings than forecasts.

根據統計，台灣一年的自然災害，造成的損失約有680萬美元，其中超過八成來自颱風，每回台灣外海一有颱風形成，氣象局總是繃緊神經，蒐集資料，預測颱風路徑，降雨以及風力，只是 大氣瞬息萬變，加上氣象科技的極限，讓預測存有誤差，因此，不少人對氣象局產生質疑，其實天氣預報的目的就是要提醒民眾戒慎、防災。

6. 360硯雕 Ink stones engraving, Master Dong

In our series of feature reports on Taiwan’s fading industries, today we meet Dong Zuo(董坐) from Changhua(彰化) County, who is known for the beautiful and creative ink stones he makes. With over 40 years of experience, the artist can carve almost anything on the ink stones. Despite the decline of the industry, Dong and his two sons are devoted to making these tools, which are nowadays viewed as artworks.

在今天的真情臉譜專題中，我們認識住在彰化縣的董坐，一位知名的硯雕家，擁有40多年的經驗，他幾乎什麼都可以刻，即便進入硯台沒落的年代，董坐及兩個兒子仍然投入這項藝術品。

7.大林做月餅A healthy holiday treat

In just a few more days we’ll celebrate the Moon Festival. At Dalin (大林) Tzu Chi Hospital, employees are making moon cakes to express thanks to Tzu Chi’s medical volunteers. The cakes are not only an expression of good will - they’re also good for the health. With no unsaturated fat, these moon cakes will make a happy and healthy autumn holiday.

再過幾天就是中秋節，大林慈院同仁親手做月餅來感恩醫療志工的付出，這一顆顆的月餅不僅有同仁的心意更兼顧健康，像是以無水奶油來代替酥油的中秋月餅，吃的快樂，健康的中秋節。

8. 澎湖中秋關懷 Visiting care recipients

Staying in Taiwan, but moving to Penghu, on September 23rd, Tzu Chi volunteers arrived at the homes of care recipients with blessings, food and even new clothes. Since the Mid-Autumn Festival is a day when families reunite, the volunteers hope that the new clothes will help the senior residents to celebrate with their families with a fresh look.

也是台灣的報導，來到澎湖，9月23日 慈濟志工來到照顧戶家，帶來祝福、食物還有新衣服，中秋節是團圓的日子，因此志工希望新的衣服能讓老人在和家人聚會時有個全新的樣貌。

9.腦麻做月餅 Hard work pays off

Next, we meet a member of the Chaiyi(嘉義) City Cerebral Palsy Association, Li Hongyu(李弘裕). His greatest wish is to become a pastry chef and in order for him to obtain his certification, he had to spend many hours memorizing the steps to making the perfect pastry. Despite burning his hands over a long period of practicing bread making, he never thought of giving up and was eventually awarded with his certification.

接著我們來到嘉義市，認識一位腦性麻痺協會的成員，李弘裕，他最大的夢想就是成為西點麵包師傅，為了考取執照李弘裕比別人花更多時間，反覆練習製作麵包，僅管練習時，曾經燙傷手，但他從不放棄，最後，還考上執照。

1.印尼宗教參訪 Indonesia delegates visit Taiwan

Da Ai TV is not only aired in Taiwan, but through the years of hard work of Indonesia Tzu Chi volunteers, the charity TV station is also established in Jakarta and Medan, to spread Tzu Chi’s positive message. On September 25, a group of 31 government officials and religious leaders, along with Tzu Chi volunteers from Indonesia, visited Tzu Chi on their first trip to Taiwan, to learn more about the organization’s humanitarian spirit.

大愛電視台不只在台灣，經由印尼慈濟人多年努力也在雅加達和棉蘭成立電視台，傳播慈濟大愛精神，9月25日 印尼政府官員以及六大宗教領袖代表，一行三十一人，在印尼慈濟志工陪伴下，首度來到台灣參訪，希望能更深入感受慈濟大愛精神。

2.印習經院中文 Teaching Chinese in the Islamic School

Since 2003, Indonesia Tzu Chi volunteers have built a close partnership, through distributing rice and helping build classrooms, for the Islamic Nural Iman Boarding School, in Bogor City of Jakarta. Last year, the volunteers even organized language courses to teach students Chinese and Jing Si Aphorisms, in hopes of boosting education levels and cultural literacy.

慈濟人從2003年開始就和印尼、雅加達、茂物市的伊斯蘭努魯亞伊曼習經院結緣，來到這裡發放大米，也曾協助擴建教室，去年開始，更開設中文課，教導學生中文和靜思語，希望他們在學習謀生技能外，也能提升人文涵養。

3.南京名品展 2012 Nanjing Taiwan Trade Fair

The 2012 Nanjing Taiwan Trade Fair came to an end on September 23. The 4-day exhibition attracted 365,000 visitors, creating 24 billion NTD in new business opportunities. The fair enjoyed the full support of the Nanjing City government, with Taiwan brands winning approval from the mayor and other city officials. 4.福建環保營 Fujian recycling education seminar

In China’s Fujian Province, Tzu Chi volunteers held a two-day Recycling Education Seminar. Over 600 volunteers from Fuding(福鼎), Quanzhou(泉州), Zhangzhou(漳州), Xiamen(廈門), and Fuzhou(福州) areas attended the event. Among the participants was Xiao Meina(蕭美娜), who practices recycling every day with her family. And 78-year-old Zheng Chengmin(鄭成民) said, he felt blessed to be able to participate in recycling, as it has made him healthier and happier.

慈濟志工在中國廈門舉行兩天的環保教育營，來自福鼎、泉州、彰州、廈門和福州的六百多位環保志工，齊聚一堂，相互交流，志工蕭美娜一家十九人天天做環保，今年七十八歲的鄭成民，他更開心環保站讓他脫胎換骨，越來越健康幸福。

We often watch weather reports on TV, but how do me-teo-ro-logists predict the changing weather? Naturally, they don’t have special psychic powers - instead, they’re on rotating shifts 24 hours a day, relying on high-tech instruments in the air and on the ground, to collect information that is then processed by a computer and, predictions are based on those findings. So you see, weather forecasters really don’t possess the le-gen-dary ability of Zhu Geliang(諸葛亮), who was said to be able to command the winds and the rain.

媒體上經常看到氣象預報，但氣象學家如何對變化無常的，天氣作出預報呢？ 當然，他們沒有呼風喚雨的能力，而是24小時的輪班監控，藉著地面和高空觀測以及衛星、雷達等氣象科技儀器，蒐集各種氣象資訊，透過電腦所運算出來的結果，絕對不是三國演義裡，借東風的諸葛亮，那樣充滿神話的色彩。

We have probably all collected paintings or other artworks at home, and, as time passes by, they may get damaged, moldy or even eaten by insects. In today’s feature report on Taiwan’s unique trades, we learn the work of art restorer, whose job is to repair damaged paintings. They use all sorts of tools and equipment, to return the artwork to its original look.

8. 廣恩養護中秋 Celebrating Moon Festival

With Sunday’s Moon Festival approaching, Tzu Chi volunteers in Xindian (新店), Taiwan, visited the Guangen(廣恩) Nursing Home to bring warmth and a festive atmosphere to the senior residents.

這個星期天就是中秋節，台灣新店慈濟志工，把佳節的氣氛帶到廣恩老人養護中心。
