●Coming up in today`s show, China Tzu Chi volunteers are tending to victims and family members of the recent bus accident in Zhangjiajie(張家界) of Hunan(湖南) Province.

●In our continuing report on dementia and Alzheimer`s, we find out how the illness is not limited to elderly people, and its impact on one particular family.

●And, in Paraguay, Tzu Chi volunteers are holding an opening ceremony for the new classrooms built in Karanday Village of Ciudad del Este.

1.長沙關懷 Caring for Taiwanese tourists

First up in China; a bus carrying Taiwanese tourists turned over on its way to Zhangjiajie(張家界) in Hunan(湖南) Province, on April 29th, leading to 3 deaths and 11 injuries. As most of their family members in Taiwan have arrived to take care of them, Tzu Chi volunteers from Changsha(長沙) also reached out to comfort the victims as they get ready to go home.

在中國 台灣旅行團,在湖南張家界的行程中,4月29日遭逢遊覽車車禍意外,造成三死 十一人受傷,大部分的家屬,都已趕往當地處理後續問題,長沙志工也前往安撫,傷患驚恐的心情。


2.蘆山受災醫療 Medical care for earthquake victims

Following the Yaan(雅安) Earthquake on April 20th, the Chinese government carried out immediate and comprehensive relief work, with those left homeless by the quake quickly relocated to emergency shelters. However, as the weather in Sichuan(四川) varies during day and night, without sufficient protection against the cold, many disaster survivors have come down with a cold or flu. Fortunately, a local army unit has set up a field hospital in the area, to serve the disaster victims.

0420四川雅安地震,大陸官方顯現了迅速的救災規畫,為受災民眾安排帳棚安頓,由於災區早晚溫差相當大,保暖衣物不夠,民眾也開始出現感冒,或腸胃不適等症況,不過所幸軍方把整個帳棚醫院,服務民眾。


3.蘆山孩童轉變 Helping children be children

On April 23rd, China Tzu Chi volunteers set up a daycare center in Sichuan`s (四川) Lushan (蘆山), for children whose family were affected by the recent tremor. In the 10 days that it has been running, the center now sees over 70 children, coming on a daily basis to read and sing. This has not only given children an outlet for their energies, but has also changed many for the better, as well as helped some, get over the trauma of losing their homes and schools to the earthquake.

四月二十三號,慈濟志工在蘆山,設立了安心服務站,照顧四川蘆山雅安地震中,無家可歸的孩子們,短短不到十天的時間,現今帳棚區有七十多名孩子,每天來這裡讀書、唱歌,恢復無憂無慮的生活,安心服務站不但讓孩子們,找回過去的活力,更讓他們變得更快樂,幫助他們走出地震的傷痛。


4.華府志工年會 TC attending 2013 InterAction Forum

Moving to the United States, Tzu Chi volunteers from Washington D.C., New Jersey, New York and Tzu Chi US Headquarters in San Dimas, California, attended the 2013 InterAction Forum to share their experiences in carrying out relief work following Hurricane Sandy. Let`s take a look.

來到美國,來自華府新澤西,紐約和美國總會的慈濟志工,參與2013年國際志工組織年會,和大家分享桑迪風災的,賑災經驗,一起來看看。

5.愛不失憶(2)失能媽媽 Alzheimer`s not limited to older people

Dementia and Alzheimer`s disease is not something that affects only the elderly people. In today`s report on the topic of dementia, we meet a single mother, who suffered from an early onset of the disease. Her son, although knowing that being in a nursing home with full time care, is the best thing for his mother, he continues to feel like he is not doing enough and fears for the day when he will lose his mother for good.

失憶症與失智症,不是一個專老人家專屬的病,今天的系列報導 愛不失憶,帶大家看一位單親媽媽,年紀輕輕就罹患,早發性的失智症,她的兒子把她送到安養院,雖然兒子知道,這裡全天候照顧,對媽媽是最好的安排,可是,他還是很愧疚做得不夠,兒子最怕就是面臨媽媽不在的那天。

6.長照助行孝 A filial child, Chen Zongren

Next, we meet another filial son, Chen Zongren(陳宗仁), from New Taipei City, who moved out of his home of some 30 years, to take care of his 84-year-old mother after she tripped over four years ago. Despite his busy work schedules, Chen still accompanies his mother whenever he can.

下一則新聞,我們來到新北市,來認識孝順的陳宗仁,母親四年前,跌斷了腿,為了照顧84歲的母親,搬離住了30多年的地方,雖然白天工作忙碌,他還是堅持,每天晚上自己照顧母親。

7.浴佛抵過彩排 Getting ready for Buddha Day

As some 200 students from the Tung Der(同德) Home Economics and Commercial Vocational School, in Nantou(南投) County, have signed up to take part in this year`s Buddha Day ceremony, Tzu Chi volunteers arrived at the school to go through the program with the students.

南投同德家商,200多位學生自願參加五月浴佛典禮,慈濟志工前來校園,進行浴佛的彩排。


8.師生齊齋戒 School joins in adopting vegetarianism

Also taking part in this year`s Buddha Day ceremony in Nantou(南投) County, are 80 students from the Wu-Yu(五育) High School, who have all pledged to adopt a vegetarian diet. What`s special about the school is that each time a rehearsal is carried out, teachers and students will go on a meatless diet together.

也是在南投,有關參加浴佛典禮的報導,今年南投縣的五育高中,有八十位學生第一次加入,也都答應要齋戒,特別的是,這所學校的師生,也都一同響應,全校一起齋戒。


9.澎湖校園環保Spreading recycling concepts

To promote environmental ideals to children, Penghu`s(澎湖) Environmental Protection Bureau invited Tzu Chi volunteers to share recycling tips with students at the Wenau(文澳) Elementary School. Through songs and quizzes, the students all gained a valuable lesson.

為了宣導環保理念,澎湖環保局邀請慈濟志工,走入文澳國小的校園,宣導資源分類,透過帶動唱和有獎問答,學生從中也獲得寶貴知識。

《 衲履足跡 》談貧與富 On the Rich and Poor

As long as we are spiritually wealthy, our lives will be blessed. Conversely, a heart full of discontent will defeat all efforts to enjoy our life. In truth, poverty and wealth are both a moment`s thought; therefore, Master Cheng Yen hopes that everyone can learn to cherish and recognize life`s true blessings.

只要心靈富裕,人生就有福;心不滿足,生活再如何享受,人生還是苦。其實,貧與富只在一念心,期盼大眾要知福、惜福。

10.巴國教室啟用 Opening of classrooms

Moving to Paraguay, in Karanday Village of Ciudad del Este, Tzu Chi assisted in building two classrooms for children that were previously studying in a difficult environment. On the day of the opening ceremony, Tzu Chi volunteers not only brought desks and chairs as a final touch, but also prepared daily necessities for villagers.

轉到巴拉圭,在東方市的加蓮地印第安村,慈濟為貧困的學校,援建了兩間教室,志工帶了課桌椅,黑板還有各種文具用品給村民。


11.屏協助清掃 Reaching out helping hands

Back to Taiwan, in Pingtung(屏東) County, Mr. Xue(薛) has been living alone since his parents passed away and is troubled by an immune system disorder. Upon learning of his plight, Tzu Chi volunteers arrived at his house, to assist in cleaning his living environment and also ensure he receive medical treatment.

台灣屏東一名薛同學,父母過世就一直獨居,本身還有自體免疫系統疾病,慈濟志工獲知他的情況,幫他清理髒亂的住家,還協助他就醫。

12.喜憨兒公演CARE US Performs at Family Theater

The Children Are Us Foundation in Taiwan, is an organization that looks out for the needs of people with intellectual disabilities. Recently, the foundation`s theater troupe from its Kaohsiung(高雄) branch, was invited to perform at the annual (台北) Taipei Family Theater Festival, where the proceeds will go towards funding their community group home.

台灣的喜憨兒基金會,是一個專程照顧喜憨兒的團體,在高雄成立的喜憨兒劇團,近期被邀請到台北市政府的,親子劇場舉辦年度公演,販售門票的所得將成為,籌建家園的基金。
