1.巴西兒童節 Bringing gifts for Children”s Day
We start today”s show in Brazil, where Children”s Day falls on Oct 12. In an early celebration, Tzu Chi volunteers organized an event for underprivileged students, in Cocaia (co-KAY-ah), near Sao Paulo. Back in June, volunteers held a free clinic in the remote area, and also distributed food. Recently they returned, to share in the fun of Children”s Day, with the little ones.
今天節目的一開始，我們來到巴西，十月十二號是他們的兒童節，為孩子提早慶祝，志工們在聖保羅市的哥蓋亞區，舉辦活動，六月時，志工們才舉辦過義診與發放食物，最近他們回來，跟孩子們一起歡度兒童節。
2.美國慶球賽 Celebrating Taiwan”s 100th birthday
It”s the 10th of October - National Day here in Taiwan. The Republic of China was born on this day in 1911, 100 years ago. To celebrate the country”s centennial, Taiwanese associations around the globe are holding various activities. In Southern California of the United States, a local golf association recently held a celebratory tournament, inviting Tzu Chi to promote conservation at the event. Volunteers provided environmental cups, which saved 2,400 plastic bottles.
十月十日是台灣的國慶日，而台灣則是在1911年一百年前建國，為了慶祝建國屆滿一百年，全球的各個台灣協會與組織，都會舉辦不同類型的活動，在美國的南加州，當地的高爾夫球協會，最近舉辦了慶祝建國百年的比賽，並邀請慈濟志工前來推廣環保，志工們提供環保杯與水，幫忙省下了2400瓶的瓶裝水。

3.鹿野尋根 Chinese Tzu Chi volunteer pilgrimage
Using wisdom to benefit others, 161 Tzu Chi volunteers from China”s east coast, and northern regions, recently paid a visit to Taitung”s Luye Township, in Taiwan, where they learned more about how Master Cheng Yen first went there in 1960, in search of the dharma. The Chinese volunteers were deeply moved and inspired by the Master”s story.
大陸華東華北慈濟人參訪團共161位，來到台灣台東鹿野參訪，了解上人1960年到鹿野，求道修行的辛苦，大陸慈濟人深受感動，表示這一趟來的感受很深，回去以後要更努力把愛傳出去。
4.慈濟鹿野 Master Cheng Yen”s 1st stop
On October 6, 1995, Master Cheng Yen took senior executives from Tzu Chi to Luye, for a pilgrimage back to her roots. The trip helped everyone realize how difficult it was to found the NGO. In our next story we meet Lin Huizi(林慧子), who is the daughter of the builder of Wangmu Temple, in Luye, where Master Cheng Yen first made up her mind to become a Buddhist nun.

Recently, Tzu Chi volunteers held a free haircut service for seniors, at the Guandu(關渡) Tzu Chi Chapter, in Taipei. Three salons came to help, bringing together no less than 50 stylists.
最近，慈濟志工在台北關渡園區，為長者舉辦義剪活動，三家連鎖髮型業者，出動了五十位員工前來幫忙。
6.永和百歲人瑞 Caring for 108-year-old senior
Next up, we go to the Yonghe District of New Taipei City, to meet a 108-year-old woman. Local Tzu Chi volunteers have been caring for the senior, always re-introducing themselves, as the old woman has trouble remembering who they are.
接下來，帶大家到新北市永和區，認識一位高齡108歲的阿嬤，慈濟人關懷阿嬤已經多年，不過，儘管阿嬤已經認不得志工了，志工還是不厭其煩的介紹自己。

Troubles can stir our minds into a murky turmoil. But bodhisattvas treat all living things with mercy and pity, and worry about the pain and suffering of others.
Tzu Chi people bring comfort to the suffering, and devote their lives to saving other people”s lives. That selfless spirit of service is both a motivation and a burden.
「煩惱」起於無明雜念，菩薩則以慈悲心悲憫眾生、為眾生苦難而擔憂；慈濟人膚慰苦難眾生、良醫用生命走入生命搶救生命，皆以無私的精神付出，以毅力承擔重任。
7.大河劫大甲溪下 Footprint issues at Gaomei Wetland
The Gaomei Wetland, at the eastuary of the River Dajia, on the west coast of Taiwan, is a home for rare plants and animals. It is also a natural seawall, a carbon store, and a water purifier. Added up, scientists say it”s worth billions. But it could be under threat? In the latest in our series of features on the River Dajia, we go to investigate.

On this day in 1911, revolutionary Chinese soldiers stationed in Wuchang shocked the nation by establishing a temporary government for the Republic of China, which would force the Qing Dynasty emperor Pu Yi to abdicate, ending over 2,000 years of imperial rule. The 10th of October marks the birth of the ROC.
1962 1st Taiwan TV station
Officially opened by the first lady, Madam Chiang Kai-Shek, Taiwan Television Enterprise - commonly known as TTV - started broadcasting on this day in 1962. It was the first terrestrial channel in Taiwan.
1977 1st flight of Concorde
Concorde, the supersonic passenger jet jointly developed by Britain and France, could fly from Paris to New York in just 3.5 hours. It was opposed by environmentalists because of its noise, but nevertheless made its maiden flight on this day in 1977, landing safely at JFK airport.
1999 9/21 live broadcast
After the September 21 earthquake rocked Taiwan, Master Cheng Yen visited the Tzu Chi chapter in Taichung to see the progress of recovery. On this day, through a live satellite broadcast on Da Ai TV, she urged viewers in North America, New Zealand and Australia, and Southeast Asia, to donate money to rebuild the disaster hit region.
2010
Ciudad del Este school opens
Tzu Chi volunteers from the Guatemala liaison office briefed the government about an elementary school in Ciudad del Este that was struggling financially. Worried that the children would not be able to get an education, it was decided to rebuild the school. After six months of building, on this day in 2010 the school opened, doubling the number of students in class.

台灣九二一大地震之後，證嚴法師坐鎮慈濟台中分會，關切災區重建進度，這天適逢大愛台完成衛星直播，包括北美洲、紐澳、以及東南亞，都可同步收看，呼籲全球愛心匯聚，協助災區重建。
2010年 慈濟援建新校舍 東方小學落成
慈濟瓜地馬拉聯絡處接獲當地政府提報，位在瓜地馬拉東方村一處小學，因為經費短缺荒廢兩年，擔心學童無法就學，實地勘查後，決定援建校舍，歷經六個多月工程 2010年這天完工啟用，學生人數因此成長近兩倍。
9.心蓮15周年 Hospice care at Hualien TC Hospital
In 1996, Tzu Chi Hualien Hospital first opened its Heart Lotus ward - a hospice where the terminally ill, and their family members, can find peace at the end of their lives. The hospital recently held a joint celebration for 15 years of palliative care in Hualien, and the recent World Hospice and Palliative Care Days.
早在1996年，花蓮慈濟醫院成立「心蓮病房」，這裡是照護癌末患者，提供他們安寧照護的病房，花蓮慈院最近歡慶安寧照護15週年，以及世界安寧日。
10.愛心好老師 Boundless love of teacher Zheng Meizhu
In Erlin Township, of Changhua County, retired special education teacher, Zheng Meizhu(鄭美珠) started tutoring disadvantaged students at Yuandou(原斗) Elementary School five years ago. Treating the children as her own, Ms. Zheng often goes above and beyond the call of duty.
彰化縣二林鎮退休特教老師鄭美珠，五年前開始到原斗國小，陪伴弱勢學童教導課業，把學生視如己出，鄭老師為孩子們盡心盡力。
