●In the Philippines, government officials join Tzu Chi”s post-Typhoon Nesat relief efforts in Rizal Province on Luzon Island.
●In Taiwan”s Kaohsiung, the second phase of housing at the Shanlin Da Ai Community officially opened on the weekend.
●And, a silt barrier across the Qijiawan River in central Taiwan has finally been removed allowing the endangered Formosan landlocked salmon to go home.

1.菲黎剎省發放Aid for Typhoon Nesat victims

The Philippines was just recovering from Typhoon Nesat earlier last week when another typhoon- Nalgae struck towards the end of the week. Compounded with seasonal northeastern winds, Typhoon Nalgae also caused some damage to northeastern Taiwan. We will keep you updated, but back to the Philippines, local Tzu Chi volunteers visited a shelter in the coastal town of Cainta in Rizal Province and handed out clothing, blankets and bread to 700 disaster victims. The provincial governor, the mayor and a local councilor came to help out, and show their support for Tzu Chi.

上周，菲律賓才剛受到尼莎風災侵襲後，又再度受到尼克颱風的侵襲，再加上東北季風的共伴效應，尼克颱風也造成台灣部分的災情，我們會持續為您帶來最新報導，不過鏡頭還是帶大家到菲律賓，當地志工前往黎剎省加茵沓鎮，展開賑災發放，每戶一包衣服、一條毛毯及麵包，共幫助700戶家庭，省長伊納列示與眾議員，及加茵沓鎮長全程參與慈濟發放，對志工給予無比肯定與認同。



2.泰水患熱食Help for flood victims in Bang Pa In

We have more on flood relief but this time we go to Thailand. It has been over two months now since the country first experienced continuous flooding, and Tzu Chi”s aid continue in Bang Pa In County, Ayutthaya Province. Volunteers provided a seven-day hot meal service to residents in Banplab Township, which is a majority Muslim community, and they even received help from local authorities. Let”s take a look.

還有相關水患的報導，但是這次轉到泰國，泰國水患已經兩個多月，慈濟持續在大城府挽巴因縣展開救災工作，志工們在曼拍鄉提供七天的熱食，而他們還有鄉公所的職員來幫忙，一起來看看。



3.日久慈野田發放Japan disaster relief continues

Staying on international relief, we now go to Japan. Over 200 days have passed since the 9.0 earthquake and the subsequent tsunami struck Japan on March 11th. The memory of the disaster fades, except for those most affected by it. Post-disaster recovery is a long road, and with the weather in the disaster areas getting colder, Tzu Chi continues to hand out consolation money to cheer on the victims.

也是國際援助的報導，不過來到日本，311日本9.0強震海嘯已經過了兩百天，許多人已經逐漸淡忘這個大災難，不過受災居民的苦難，並沒有因此而減輕，災後復原真的是條漫漫長路，接下來的天氣會越來越冷，慈濟人也持續發放物資給居民。



4.杉林二期入厝Shanlin phase-2 opens

The second phase of housing at the Shanlin Da Ai Community in Kaohsiung officially opened on the weekend. The community was built by Tzu Chi to help house people displaced by Typhoon Morakot of 2009. The mayor of Kaohsiung City, Chen Ju, joined the deputy executive director of Tzu Chi, Lin Biyu, on the stage. The new arrivals are mostly from the Han Chinese community, while first phase residents are from indigenous tribes. The indigenous residents welcomed their new neighbors with a traditional dance.

高雄杉林大愛園區第二期永久屋，周末舉行入厝茶會，永久屋是2009年莫拉克風災後，慈濟為災民興建的屋子，高雄市長陳菊跟慈濟基金會副總執行長林碧玉都蒞臨現場，第二期住戶大都是漢人，而第一期住戶是原住民，原住民住戶以歌舞方式，熱情地歡迎二期住戶入住園區當鄰居。



5.杉林二期住戶Safe and secure future

The second phase of housing at Shanlin has 250 homes. After losing their home in the 88 flood, most of the new residents were either renting places on the plains, or were struggling to get by in their dangerous mountain homes. Today, they are happily settling into safe and secure accommodation, and no longer have to worry about the latest weather reports.

高雄杉林大愛園區第二期250戶，莫拉克風災後失去家園，受災鄉親幾乎在山下以租房子形式，或者是在勉強山區的危險住宅過生活，如今他們遷移山下居住，也有個安心的家，未來他們不用再怕豪雨或者颱風警報了。



6.大河劫大甲溪(5)Landlocked salmon set free

Taiwan”s famous landlocked salmon are a national treasure and a protected species. They live in the Dajia River and its tributary the Qijiawan. The rare salmon usually go upstream to spawn, but their route was blocked for many years by a silt barrier across the Qijiawan. The good news is, that the barrier has now been removed. In the latest in our series of features from Taiwan”s Dajia River, we find out how the change has improved the whole river environment.

大家都知道，櫻花鉤吻鮭是台灣的國寶魚，牠主要的棲地就在大甲溪和七家灣，數量少的櫻花鉤吻鮭通常會迴游產卵，不過，因為攔砂壩的興建阻斷了通道，好消息是，今年政府單位就要進行拆除攔砂壩的行動，今天的大河劫大甲溪專題中，帶大家看看整個河床環境改變的改善程度。



7.印尼蘇翰迪New housing for Jakarta”s poor

Jakarta, despite being Indonesia”s capital, has 45 slums in which millions of residents struggle to live. This year in a joint-effort with the local government, the Tzu Chi Indonesia chapter implemented a housing improvement plan, to make safe and secure homes, and provide a new starting point for the city”s poor.

在印尼雅加達，儘管貴為一國的首善之都，卻有著45座的貧民窟，數百萬的貧民，生活困難，為了改善貧民的居住環境，慈濟印尼分會近年來推動扶困計畫，建造新房舍，安全又堅固的房子，對這些貧民來說是個新的開始。



8.身障有春天Bowling towards a better life

How do you bowl while sitting in a wheelchair, or with only one arm? In this report we introduce you to two heroes, who didn”t quit on life just because they were dealt a bad hand, but continued to do their best to cope with life”s challenges.

坐在輪椅中該如何打保齡球，又或者你只有一支手又該怎麼打，接下來來認識兩位生命中的勇者，他們不被命運中不順遂擊倒，透過運動轉化心念繼續挑戰人生。



9.1004歷史的今天On this day, October 4.

1957 Sputnik launch
The Soviet Union successfully launched Sputnik 1, and put it into orbit around the earth on this day in 1957. The following year, the United States launched Explorer 1. Today there are over 1,000 satellites, for scientific research, weather reports, communications and other uses orbiting the planet.

1992 Mozambique peace accord
At a meeting in Rome, the president of Mozambique and rebel forces signed a peace accord on this day in 1992, putting an end to 16 years of civil war, which had savaged the African nation”s economy and the infrastructure. The landmines left over from the conflict still endanger local people today.

2006 Sri Lanka coast defense
Hambantota, in the south of Sri Lanka was devastated by the Asian tsunami, which raised awareness of the need to plant a protective mangrove barrier. On this day in 2006, during national environmental week, Tzu Chi volunteers were invited to take part in a tree-planting activity. The volunteers contributed 200 saplings to the joint effort to protect the vulnerable coastline.

1957年首顆人造衛星蘇聯發射成功，史波尼克一號，1957年這天成功進入環繞地球的軌道，隔年，美國成功發射探險一號，如今有上千顆衛星，為了科學研究、氣象預報，以及通訊服務等用途，環繞地球運轉。

1992年莫三比克內戰，和平協議止干戈，1992年在義大利羅馬所召開的會議中，莫三比克總統與反判軍終於達成共識，簽下和平協議，終止了長達16年的內戰，重創的經濟與基礎建設重建困難，而戰爭所遺留的地雷，至今依然威脅民眾生命。

2006年斯里蘭卡環保周，植樹造林護大地，位在斯里蘭卡南部的漢班托塔，是南亞海嘯的重災區，也因此啟發當地種植防護林的觀念，2006年這天適逢當地環境保護周，邀請慈濟志工加入植樹活動，慈濟志工現場提供兩百株樹苗響應，一起做好海岸線的防護工作。



10.板橋難報演出Celebrating Double Ninth Festival

Wednesday marks Taiwan”s Double Ninth or Chung Yeung Festival. It is customary to pay respects to one”s elders and parents on this occasion, so, at the weekend, Tzu Chi”s Banqiao Chapter in New Taipei City publicly performed the musical, Sutra of Profound Gratitude to Parents .

這個禮拜三就是重陽節了，人們習慣在這天推行敬老活動，所以這個周末在新北市慈濟板橋園區，演繹手語音樂劇父母恩重難報經。
