Coming up in today’s top stories, Tzu Chi volunteers are tending to fire victims in both the Philippines and Indonesia, by handing out relief supplies. In today’s feature report on Mount. Li(梨), we see how the building of two water discharge tunnels solves landslides and land erosion problems. And, in Taiwan, students at the Hualien Tzu Chi Elementary School are practicing hard for their upcoming musical at the end of March.

1. 印尼火災+菲兩場火災

First up in the Philippines, another two fires broke out in Quezon City and Va-len-zue-la City, leaving more than 400 families without roofs over their heads. Meanwhile, a short-circuit triggered a blaze in Indonesia that affected 375 households. To help fire survivors in the Philippines and Indonesia, Tzu Chi volunteers in both countries, arrived at temporary shelters, bringing much needed emotional support and relief supplies.

最近在菲律賓計順市和描仁瑞拉市，傳出兩場大火，造成四百多戶無家可歸。同時，在印尼 一場大火，因為電線短路，造成375戶無家可歸。為了幫助菲律賓和印尼兩個國家的受災戶，慈濟志工紛紛趕到避難所，帶來最需要的心靈膚慰和物資。


2. 馬國大發放

In Malaysia, Tzu Chi volunteers from the Tzu Chi I-poh Liaison Office, recently held a reunion banquet, to which care recipients were invited to attend. Not only did volunteers organize free hair cuts and medical checkups for the participants, but also prepared delicious vegetarian dishes for everyone to enjoy.

來自馬來西亞怡保聯絡處的慈濟志工，最近舉辦一場感恩團圓飯，邀請照顧戶同來聚餐享樂，不僅提供免費健康檢查，志工也準備精緻素食料理，讓照顧戶享用。


3. 實業家落幕

The 2013 Tzu Chi Global Entrepreneur Seminar, came to an end this week. This year, close to 700 businessmen from around the globe, gathered in Taiwan, where they exchanged thoughts and discussed the value and purpose of life. Let’s take a look.

2013年慈濟全球實業家靜思生活營落幕了，今年有來自各國近七百位實業家齊聚交流，反思生命的價值與意義，我們一起來看。

4. 梨山變形記(2)賓館下的水龍

In our second feature report on the changing faces of Mount. Li(梨), we take you to the famous Lishan Guesthouse, which was closed down for 13 years, following problems with landslides and land erosion. The Water and Soil Conservation Bureau later spent almost 300 million USD, to construct two massive water tunnels, which discharge water from the surrounding hills into the Dajia(大甲) River. The project has been called a success, and thus returning the area in and around Li Mountain back to normal, allowing the guesthouse to reopen for business. Here’s more.

梨山變形記第二集，帶您來到聞名遐邇的梨山賓館。曾經是前總統蔣中正的行館，13年前梨山賓館被迫關閉，因為周邊過多的地下水造成山崩和土壤侵蝕等問題，水保局花了三億美元建造兩條排水廊道，引流水源進入大甲溪，這項工程成就讓梨山賓館附近恢復正常，而賓館也重新開幕營業，一起來看看。


5. 燈會親子環保

At the Hsinchu(新竹) Lantern Festival, in Taiwan, which will continue till March 10th, Tzu Chi volunteers are on site to promote recycling concepts. Students and parents from Tzu Chi’s parent-and-child class joined the volunteers at the event, in raising environmental awareness among festival-goers.

新竹的台灣燈會會持續進行到3月10日，慈濟志工在燈會現場宣導垃圾不落地，親子成長班的學員跟家長也一起來參加，要提升大眾環保意識。


6. 大愛偶像鼓勵

In Taoyuan’s(桃園) Zhongli(中壢) City, we meet fifth-grader Xiaoyi(小怡). Last year, Xiaoyi(小怡) caught a flu and suddenly fell into coma. Later, her limbs turned black and have to be amputated. To encourage Xiaoyi(小怡) through this difficult time, Tzu Chi volunteers invited Guo Weiqi(郭韋齊) to visit her at the hospital. Herself an amputee, Guo learned how to play the piano well enough to take place in national competitions. Thanks to Guo’s(郭) encouragement, Xiaoyi’s(小怡) family found strength to go on.

在桃園的中壢市，有一位小五的學生小怡，去年因為一場感冒突然昏迷，四肢發黑，必須要截肢，為了幫助小怡度過難關，慈濟志工約了郭韋齊，一起到醫院探訪小怡。儘管自己也是截肢病患，韋齊努力學彈琴，曾在全國身障才藝賽中獲獎，有了韋齊的鼓勵，為小怡一家人帶來希望。


7. 音樂唐寶寶

Staying in Taiwan, but moving to Taichung(台中), we meet 20-year-old Xu Yuwei(許育瑋), who was born with Down syndrome. Despite suffering from multiple disabilities since birth, Xu, with the encouragement of his parents, has learned to play the piano and o-ca-ri-na. Following eight years of hard practice, Xu successfully became a street performer.

在台灣的台中，來看看20歲的唐氏症寶寶許育瑋。天生就有多重障礙，但父母鼓勵他學電子琴和陶笛，八年的苦練之下，育瑋成為街頭藝人。


《 衲履足跡 》

On Bad Habits

Human beings always like to criticize others, but forget that they too have their own shortcomings. Be wise, compassionate and never make quick judgments about others. Tzu Chi’s work cannot be carried out by one person, so we must be grateful and forgiving to our fellow volunteers, and help them change for the better.

主題：談習氣

開示：人們總是習慣數落別人，卻忘記自己也有不好的習氣與缺點；聽到是非言語，要提起慈悲與智慧，不能先有成見。一個人無法成就慈濟事，所以要感恩、包容夥伴，轉化對方不好的習氣。


8. 廈門慈技招生

16 teachers and students, of the Hualien Tzu Chi College of Technology recently visited China’s Fujian(福建) Province, and held a student recruitment event in Xiamen(廈門) last Sunday, March 3rd, in hopes of giving those interested in studying abroad, a different and positive learning environment.

花蓮慈濟技術學院師生一行16人，最近前往中國福建，於上周日3月3日在廈門聯絡處舉辦一場招生說明會，希望給對國外留學有興趣的學生一個不同的學習環境。


9. 慈小雕塑小菩薩

In Taiwan, at the end of this month, students from Tzu Chi Elementary School in Hualien will be putting on a performance of the Sutra of Profound Gratitude to Parents. To make sure the show is a success, students and Tzu Chi volunteers seized the weekend as an opportunity to practice sign language.

在台灣，三月底，台灣花蓮慈小的學生將演繹父母恩重難報經，為了讓表演可以完美呈現，小朋友和志工利用假日練習手語。


10. 秀林兒童衛教

To ensure children in the remote areas of Hualien are guaranteed a healthy life, the Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital regularly carry out health checks in local schools. Doctors and nurses plan to visit the 12 elementary schools in Xiulin(秀林) Township, to teach students the right way to brush their teeth, starting with Shuiyuan(水源) Elementary School.

為了確保花蓮偏遠地區的孩子能過同樣健康的生活，花蓮慈濟醫院定期在當地學校舉辦健檢，醫護人員預計走遍秀林鄉12所國小，為大家做口腔衛教，就從水源國小開始。

We go back to Indonesia at the end of today’s program; it is estimated that every 8 seconds, one person in Indonesia will need a blood transfusion, and over 400 million bags of blood are needed each year.
