Welcome to Da Ai Headlines. I’m Wendy Chen. Thank you for joining us. Coming up in today’s show, Taiwan Tzu Chi volunteers are tending to victims of a recent fire in Taipei, by helping clean their house. Tzu Chi volunteers in New Taipei City help a bereaved family clear some 7 truckloads of garbage from the house left behind by their mother. And, in our feature report on finding focus, we learn how with the right guidance and care, hyperactive children can lead normal if not better lives.

1. 北火災清理

First up in Taiwan; on February 20th, a fire broke out around Nanjing(南京) East Road of Taipei City. The fire not only killed a senior couple, but also affected the apartment of Ms. Zhang(張) who lives nearby. 60 Tzu Chi volunteers arrived at Ms. Zhang’s apartment to help her clean up after the fire.

首先來到台灣，2月20日，台北南京東路附近傳出大火，造成一對年老夫妻喪命，更波及到住在後面房屋的張女士，為了幫助張女士，60位慈濟志工來到她的家進行大掃除。


2. 菲火災關懷

Moving to the Philippines, in Barangay Tatalon of Quezon City, a fire broke out due to an unattended candle, leaving 20 families homeless. Upon hearing of the disaster, Tzu Chi volunteers brought aid supplies to care for the fire victims.

轉到菲律賓計順市沓沓倫里，因為住戶使用蠟燭不小心，發生大火，20戶家庭無家可歸，慈濟志工知道消息後，送上生活用品，給予關懷。


3. 台北燈節宣導

This year, the Taipei Lantern Festival is being held at the former Taipei Flora Expo Park. However, the event which attracted large numbers of visitors, also left behind a large amount of garbage. The organizing committee thus, decided to invite Northern District Tzu Chi volunteers to the festival, to promote environmentalism to participants.

今年台北燈節在花博公園舉辦，因為燈節吸引了許多遊客，垃圾量也成為問題，為了提醒大家為愛護地球盡一分心力，北區慈濟志工受邀參與為環保宣導。


4. 雪隆訪照顧戶

Staying in Asia, but we go to Malaysia for our next report, Tzu Chi volunteers from the Tzu Chi Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chapter recently visited care recipients, to bring them joy and happiness through singing and playing guitar.

也是亞洲的報導，來到馬來西亞。雪隆慈濟志工走進照顧戶的家送暖，獻唱一首首歌曲，演奏吉他，讓照顧戶感受到歡欣的氣氛。

5. 新店清垃圾屋

The Chinese New Year is always a time for family reunions; however, that wasn’t the case for a 65-year-old woman in New Taipei City, who lived in solitude and passed away during the holiday. The woman’s daughters came to organize her funeral, but were unable to clear the house of all its garbage and household items. The borough head therefore asked Tzu Chi to help, and volunteers spent some 6 hours in clearing out a total of 7 truckloads worth of rubbish.

農曆春節通常都是全家人團圓的時刻，不過新北市有位65歲獨居的婦人卻在春節期間過世，在家中無人聞問，這位屋主的女兒們辦妥母親的喪事後，面對堆滿雜物的屋子，實在手足無措，所以透過里長找到慈濟志工協助打掃屋子，花了六個小時的時間，總共清出了七部垃圾車的垃圾。


6. 洗腎推素食+返鄉盡孝賣素食

Taking on a meatless diet can have life changing benefits; we meet a couple Weng Yongyu(翁永郁) and Feng Shiting(馮詩婷) from Madou(麻豆) District of Tainan(台南), who after returning to their homeland 10 years ago, to fulfill their filial duties, also opened a vegetarian restaurant and found happiness that no money can buy. As well, Tzu Chi volunteer Hong Xinyong(洪信勇), also a dialysis patient, from Banqiao, New Taipei City, discovered the benefits of vegetarianism, and has since developed a passion for vegetarian cuisine.

接著來看看茹素改變生活的報導，帶大家看來自台南麻豆的夫妻，翁永郁與馮詩婷，十年前他們決定返鄉盡孝道，開了一間屬於自己的素食店，也得到金錢買不到的快樂。還有，住在新北市板橋的慈濟志工洪信勇，他是位洗腎患者，發覺吃素對身體有益處，還開起素食烹飪課程。


7. 馬志工洗腎

Back to Malaysia, we meet another dialysis patient, Tzu Chi volunteer Hong Chamu(洪查慕) who was at first devastated, when she found out that she will need dialysis treatment two years ago. Luckily, with the encouragement and support of her family, as well as fellow volunteers, Hong came to realize she should not focus on her losses, but what she still has in life. Today, the volunteer is at every Tzu Chi event, seizing the opportunity to give.

在馬來西亞，慈濟志工洪查慕兩年前知道自己要洗腎時很難接受，不過在家人與慈濟法親的陪伴，讓她知道自己不該只看失去的，而該珍惜還擁有的，如今，她參與每次的活動，把握機會付出。

The earth revolves peacefully around day and night, however, the increase in pollution, as well as greed, hatred and delusion of the human minds is destroying our environment. To bring the planet into a state of balance, we must first purify all those around us, and inspire their compassion to give.

主題：談啟善念

開示：原本天地乾坤，四時晝夜循環應是順暢平安；但是現在污染多，加上貪、瞋、癡念破壞生態環境。要調整生態環境，要先從人人的心態開始調和、讓人人懂得發揮愛心。


8. 找回專注力(4)

Continuing with our series on attention, we investigate the connection between over-activity, hyper-activity and attention de-fi-ciency in children. Over-active and hyperactive children typically suffer from a lack of patience and the ability to focus. But, with the right guidance and care, these same children can be extremely creative and passionate, and some are even natural born leaders and thinkers.

找回專注力系列報導，今天要帶您來了解過動和好動與專注力的關連，不論是過動或是好動的孩子，雖然比較沒有耐心，注意力比較差，只要經過調整，孩子其實相當有創造力、熱心，而且也是能夠很專心。

9. 人生行善開始

In our next story, we meet 75-year-old Wang Jinque(王金雀), who is seizing every opportunity to practice recycling. Two years ago, with the encouragement of other Tzu Chi volunteers, Wang decided to attend Tzu Chi’s volunteer training seminar. She says regardless of her age, it is never too late to do good deeds.

下一則新聞，我們來認識投入環保的75歲王金雀阿嬤。兩年前，在慈濟志工的鼓勵下，她參與了慈濟委員的見習培訓，她說不管年齡，做好事永遠不嫌晚。

10. 癌末有慈濟

At the New Year blessing ceremony held at the Fengyuan(豐原) Jing Si Hall in Taichung, Tzu Chi care recipient Mr. Tang(唐), who is also a cancer patient, shared with the audience members, how he once lost his will to live; and it was seeing Tzu Chi volunteers’ selfless dedication for society, that he found his stamina to fight his illness. Tang(唐) vows, that in his remaining years, he will follow the Master’s footsteps and create ripples of kindness in society.

在台中豐原靜思堂舉辦的新春祝福中，一名慈濟照顧戶唐先生跟大家分享，他因為罹患癌症，曾經失去求生意志，但看到慈濟人為社會無私的愛，讓他燃起鬥志對抗病魔，他發願有生之年要追隨上人的腳步，激起一圈又一圈的善漣漪。

In China’s Fujian Province, the Guoyi(國誼) Elementary School in Xiamen, reguarly hold winter events for its students. After getting to know Tzu Chi’s environmental work, the school has organized for students to visit the organization’s recycling station to learn to cherish all resources.
