Coming up in today”s show, tornado survivors in the US State of Indiana get a visit from Tzu Chi volunteers, who bring cash cards and blankets to help them through the aftermath.
‧In today”s feature on the nuclear waste issue of Taiwan”s pristine Lanyu island, we find out how the locals are coping with the rapid pace of modernization.

1.芝加哥發放Tornado aid arrives as promised
When Indiana was hit by a tornado in March, Tzu Chi volunteers from Chicago and Indianapolis were among the first on the scene to assess damage. They decided to distribute cash cards worth 500 US dollar, and blankets, to the victims. Members of the Red Cross also joined in the effort.
美國印第安納州3月受到龍捲風侵襲,在第一時間,芝加哥和印城慈濟志工前往勘災,也決定發放美金五百元現值卡,以及毛毯給受災民眾,紅十字會成員也來共同參與。
2.澳言達發放Aid distribution in Yenda
Continuing on the topic of aid relief, after their handouts in the flood affected area of Wagga Wagga in New South Wales, Australia, Tzu Chi volunteers made an eight-hour trip to flood-hit Yenda Town - 550km west of Sydney. This time, Sydney volunteers were joined by their counterparts from Brisbane and Melbourne to deliver the much-needed items to flood victims.
繼續來看發放新聞,澳洲新南威爾斯省的水患,慈濟志工在完成瓦格瓦格地區的發放工作後,又前往位於雪梨西邊550公里處,言達地區展開發放,這次除了雪梨的志工外,還有布里斯本和墨爾本兩地的志工一同前往,送上物資和關懷給飽受水患之苦的鄉親。
3.安琪拉修女訪花Sister Angela visits Master Cheng Yen
One of the people who helped Tzu Chi volunteers gain early access to flood hit areas in Australia was Sister Angela Mary Doyle, from Brisbane. On her latest visit, Sister Angela gave a Chinese translation of her personal memoirs to Master Cheng Yen.
其中一位幫助慈濟人,在水患地區順利協助勘災順利的是,來自布里斯本的安琪拉修女,她來到台灣帶著她著作的個人回憶錄中文版權,獻給上人。
4.菲三區火災Fires break out at communities
Recently, in San Mateo Town in the City of Manila, fires broke out at three different communities, displacing 130 households. In the next story, we follow volunteers as they bring aid to fire victims in Barangay Banaba.
最近,在馬尼拉的馬刁鎮,三個社區,同一天發生火災,總共有130戶家庭無家可歸,接下來,跟著志工送上物資給位於巴納巴里其中一個社區。
5.賴索托殘兒Volunteers visited Morapeli Disable Centre
Moving to Lesotho, Tzu Chi volunteers recently visited the Morapeli Disable Centre. The children said the volunteers” visit was like the sunshine on a cold winter day.
鏡頭轉到賴索托,最近慈濟志工前往莫拉倍迪殘障中心關懷,這些稱自己為被社會遺忘的孩子說,慈濟志工的到訪,好像冬天裡的太陽,帶給他們歡樂和溫暖。
6.核不沉默(5)蘭嶼未來The future of Lanyu and its people
In Taiwan”s Lanyu Island where low-level nuclear waste have been stored for 30 years, with the introduction of money and modernization, life has changed even if there was no leakage of the radioactive waste. We now look at how the indigenous Tao people living on the island will cope with the future.
台電以經在這裡存放低階核廢料長達30年,即便都沒有外洩的問題,島上的生活也因為錢與現代化而產生了改變,一起來看看達悟人要如何面對未來。
7.基隆清明宣導Litter free on Qingming Festival
Taiwan”s Tomb Sweeping Day, falls on Wednesday, April 4th this year. To avoid the heavy traffic and crowds on the actual day, many chose to observe the occasion over the past weekend. As tomb sweepers tend to leave behind plenty of trash from their offerings,Tzu Chi partnered with the Keelung Mortuary Services Office to recycle discarded items, and promote conservation at a local cemetery.
今年清明節是4月4號,避免當天人擠人,許多民眾把握周末假日這兩天掃墓祭祖,通常也會留下很多垃圾,慈濟人和「基隆市立殯葬管理所」合作,這兩天來到當地一個公墓園區,設置環保回收點,向民眾宣導。
8.泰涵灑環保日Tzu Chi recycling takes to the airwaves
Tzu Chi”s commitment to helping Thailand rebuild after the floods of last year has attracted the attention of the local media. The producers of ”Young Volunteers at Work” chose to film one episode during a Tzu Chi recycling day at Bangkok”s Hansa Community. Let”s take a look.
自從去年水患過後,慈濟志工無間斷的關懷,最近受到當地電視台的關注,電視節目少年志願者行動的製作人,特地選擇在曼谷涵灑社區的環保日來拍攝外景,一起來看看。
9.馬教師學人文Tzu Chi teachers conference
The Tzu Chi Teachers Association of Malacca, Malaysia, recently held a conference to discuss the promotion of Tzu Chi humanitarian values in schools. The conference was attended by 157 elementary school or kindergarten teachers.
馬來西亞馬六甲教師聯誼會,舉辦【在職老師慈濟人文教育分享會】,總共有小學和幼稚園的157位老師前來參加。
