1.菲馬拉汶大米Early Christmas presents

Christmas is widely celebrated around the world, but for many low-income families, there is little cash to spare for the festival. Luckily, for the needy households in the Philippines, Tzu Chi is once again distributing rice from Taiwan. Recently, in Malabon City, 1,007 families each received a 20-kilo bag of rice as an early Christmas present .

耶誕節是一年一度的大節慶，不過對於許多低收入家庭來說，卻沒有多餘的錢可以慶祝節慶，幸好菲律賓的貧困居民，慈濟再次發放來自台灣的大米，最近在馬拉汶市，1007戶人家各個收到二十公斤的白米，提早收到了聖誕節禮物。


2.列治文耶誕 Bringing festivity to nursing homes

Christmas spirit is also in the air in Richmond, Canada, where Tzu Chi volunteers have built a strong friendship over the years with the elderly residents of Fraserview Nursing Home. Volunteers prepare gifts for the seniors there every Christmas, and this year, the goodies include pillows made by young volunteers.

耶誕節氣氛也可以在加拿大列治文感受到，慈濟人因長期陪伴當地的菲沙老人院，與老人家建立了深厚的友誼，志工們每年都有準備禮物，而今年慈青也投入，幫忙製作枕頭。


3.慈大獲獎 Say No to drugs

The Taiwanese films ”Rebellious Son” and ”Breaking the Waves”, were produced by the Ministry of Justice in partnership with the Tzu Chi Foundation. Based on the real-life struggles of former drug addicts, the movies have been part of a national anti-drug campaign, since November of 2009. Recently, Tzu Chi University and the Tzu Chi Teachers Association were also recognized for promoting the anti-drug campaign.

”破浪而出”及”逆子”，是由台灣法務部與慈濟基金會合作，真人真事的的反毒宣導影片，2009年11月就開始加入反毒的宣導，慈濟大學與慈濟教聯會，落實防制反毒也受到肯定。

4.這兒的星星最亮(2)獅泉河望遠鏡 Perfect place for star gazing

Astrologers are always trying to see deeper and further into space, to uncover the secrets of the universe. Besides a powerful telescope, they also need good weather conditions to clearly see the stars. That”s why a team of Taiwanese scientists has built an observatory on the Tibetan plateau. The clean air, cloudless sky, and minimal light pollution from human settlements, make the area ideal for observations.

天文學家永遠都在追求，看得更深、望得更遠來探索宇宙的奧妙，除了天文望遠鏡的口徑越做越大外，也不斷的尋找觀星條件更好的地方，因此，台灣團隊長途跋涉來到西藏高原，設立天文台，清澈的天空，無雲層的上空，也沒有光害，成了設置天文台最佳的地點。


5.蘇州農場油菜 New organic farm in Suzhou

Eating organic vegetables is good for your health and the environment, which is why Tzu Chi volunteers in Suzhou, in China”s Jiangsu province, are cultivating a piece of farmland in Yangshan(陽山) that is entirely dedicated to growing chemical- and pesticide-free vegetables. Volunteers from Xiamen, with experience in organic farming, came especially to lend a hand; and local farmers also volunteered to share some very useful tips.

選擇有機食物，對身體好，對環境也好，這也是為什麼慈濟在江蘇蘇州的陽山，整出一片農地，實行有機農法，不用化肥或是除蟲劑，不僅有廈門的志工帶來經驗來幫忙，還有附近農民義務當起老師，指導志工怎麼做農活。


6.大愛媽學素食 Da Ai mothers cook away

A greener lifestyle isn”t complete without a plant-based diet. A team of Da Ai Mothers in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, recently took up a vegetarian cookery class to improve on their cooking skills. Lessons like this help give Da Ai mothers more ideas on how to prepare healthy meals for their children.

低碳生活，多吃蔬菜準沒錯，台灣高雄的大愛媽媽，跟著慈濟志工學做素食，要把健康素食帶回家，跟孩子一起分享。


《 衲履足跡 》談惜福 On Cherishing Blessings

Wherever in the world Tzu Chi volunteers serve, they always advertise that the Buddhist charity and the humanistic values it represents are from Taiwan to build good karma for the country. Taiwanese people should cherish such blessings.

海外慈濟人無論是就地付出，或是跨國賑濟，皆以「台灣佛教慈濟」為名，對受助者申明慈濟及其精神理念來自台灣，將功德回向台灣，大家要珍惜身在台灣的福。


7.馬水懺排練 Geared up for Water Repentance

The Tzu Chi-Selangor/Kuala Lumpur chapter will be holding its year-end blessing ceremony on January 1, 2012, at the Putra Indoor Stadium in Bukit Jalil. Volunteers are giving the event a special touch with a performance of a section of the Water Repentance sutra. Cast members are currently in rehearsals, and, to make sure no one misses out on the practice sessions, volunteers have been helping each other out. How? Let”s find out more in this next story.

送舊迎新 馬來西亞慈濟雪隆分會，將於2012年1月1日，在布特拉室內體育館舉辦歲末祝福，其中特別帶給大眾，《慈悲三昧水懺》手語劇的演繹，雪隆慈濟志工努力排演，為了讓每位入經藏菩薩，都有機會參與練習，志工互相補位，讓我們來看看，他們的是怎麼做到的。


8.印尼三合一 Media volunteer training on Batam

Da Ai TV is able to broadcast Tzu Chi”s work around the world thanks to media volunteers who help capture the truth, goodness, and beauty of Tzu Chi activities. On Batam Island, Indonesia, there are only five media volunteers. To recruit new blood, volunteers held a training seminar, with the help of Indonesia”s Da Ai TV.

大愛新聞能有來自世界各地的新聞畫面，是因為各地的真善美志工，為慈濟留下歷史，印尼巴淡島雖然真善美志工僅僅五位，為了招募更多人才，印尼大愛台的同仁協助舉辦研習培訓。


9.1219歷史的今天 On this day, the 19th of December.

1848 Short lived Emily Bronte
At the age of 29, English novelist and poet, Emily Jane Bronte wrote Wuthering Heights, which would become one of the world”s top ten novels. The book would be the only one written by Emily as she died on this day in 1848 at the age of 30.

2004 Winter relief in N Thailand
In winter, the temperature in northern Thailand can drop to five degrees Celsius. On this day in 2004, local Tzu Chi volunteers held a winter distribution for the poor at the soon-to-be-finished Chiang Mai Tzu Chi School. Blankets and clothes were handed out to make the winter warmer.

2005 Afghan National Assembly
In front of foreign diplomats including US Vice President Dick Cheney, and led by Afghan President Hamid Karzai, some 350 upper and lower house members, of the new National Assembly of Afghanistan, were sworn into office. It was the first National Assembly to be elected by the people after the Taliban regime was deposed by the United States.

2009 Homeless relief In Onshi Park
Onshi Park of Tokyo”s Ueno is a gathering place for the city”s homeless, who have made the park their home. With the global economic slump, their numbers increased. Notified by a local hiking club, on this day in 2009, Tzu Chi volunteers arrived with blankets. The homeless received the gifts in an orderly fashion and were very grateful.

1848年 咆哮山莊作者 艾蜜莉病逝
英國作家與詩人，艾蜜莉 勃朗特，二十九歲時創作咆哮山莊，終將成為世界十大小說名著之一，但這也是她一生唯一的一部長篇小說，因為1848年的這天，年僅三十歲的艾蜜莉就過世了。

2004年 泰北嚴冬 慈濟送暖
泰北山區冬天最冷的時候，僅有攝氏五度，2004年的這天當地的慈濟志工，在即將完工的清邁慈濟中小學裡，將棉被 毛毯以及保暖衣物，送給當地的窮困居民，好讓冬天更暖和。

2005年 首屆民選議會 正式運作　　
包括美國副總統錢尼在內的外國政要們，共同見證這場由阿富汗總統 哈米德主持，帶領阿富汗上與下議院，共三百五十多席議員宣誓就職，是美軍推翻塔利班政權之後，阿富汗首次的民選議會。

2009年 日本慈濟 關懷街友
日本東京上野的恩賜公園，是街友聚集地之一，他們佔地為家，加上金融海嘯衝擊，他們的人數增加，日本地區的慈濟志工，在當地山友會的介紹下，於2009年的這天帶著毛毯前來，而街友們也井然有序地領取，與志工互道感恩。


10.矯正牽引法 Helping accident victim

A resident of Taichung, Taiwan, 56 year old Lin Xianglan(林香蘭) was involved in a road accident in October of last year, which severely dislocated and fractured her jaw. Eating, breathing and speaking became extremely difficult. Surgery was recommended, but since there was a chance that it could affect her facial nerves, Xianglan decided to go to Taichung Tzu Chi Hospital instead, where doctors used traction therapy to get her jaw, and surrounding muscles, back in line.

台灣台中有位五十六歲婦人林香蘭，去年十月發生車禍，兩側顳顎關節脫臼骨折，整個牙床異位無法正常咬合，吃東西、呼吸或是說話都有困難，很多醫院建議他開刀治療，但是手術風險高，可能損傷顏面神經，最後林女士決定到台中慈濟醫院，醫療團隊創新用矯正牽引做法，替她找回健康。

1.泰以工代賑 Tzu Chi relief work program kicks off

Having battled floodwaters for more than three months, Thailand can now finally start rebuilding as the inundated areas dry up one by one. A bigger challenge lies, however, in the removal of the waterlogged waste items that are found everywhere. To help local residents restore their homes while earning cash at the same time, Tzu Chi launched a relief work program, whereby participants are each paid 300 Thai Bahts a day, to sweep up their neighborhoods. We join volunteers in Bangkok, as they rally flood victims, to help each other out.

泰國與世紀水患抗衡3個月，水終於一區區的消退了，但後續打掃工作，移除阻塞的垃圾等問題，真的很讓人傷腦筋，為了讓受災居民，可以早日恢復家園、生活費也有著落，慈濟啟動以工代賑，居民清掃自己的家，以及鄰近社區一天工資三百元泰銖，帶您去曼谷，看看志工如何動員水患災民，互相幫忙。


2.菲以工代賑 Origins of relief work program

Tzu Chi”s relief work program was a success in the Philippines, after Typhoon Ketsana battered the country in 2009. With wide spread damage that affected some 4 million people in Metro Manila alone, Tzu Chi sprang into action by carrying out a relief work program that paid residents to clean up their own neighborhoods. Much was accomplished in just 18 days, but to get there, volunteers had some hills to climb.

慈濟以工代賑，在菲律賓立下成功的範例，在2009年，菲律賓凱莎娜風災，當時大馬尼拉災情慘重，400萬人受災，慈濟人即啟動以工代賑，讓居民清掃自己的家園，短短18天完成了不可能的任務，不過一開始，推動也是困難重重。


3.菲耶誕白米 Early Christmas presents

Staying in the Philippines, Christmas arrived early for over 1,700 poor families in Paranaque City when Tzu Chi delivered 20kg bags of rice to the needy families. Let”s find out more.

4.美花車前置 ”One More Day” in Rose Parade

The 123rd Rose Parade, in the US city of Pasadena, takes place on January 2nd. Tzu Chi volunteers are again working together with the organ donation NGO ”Donate Life”, to make a float for the parade. We join the hard-working volunteers, who are busy getting ready for the big day.

在美國 帕沙迪娜市，第123屆美國花車遊行，將在2012年1月2日登場，慈濟志工與器官捐贈組織合作，花車裝飾前置作業，我們跟著志工們一起來看看，他們事前的準備工作。


5.死刑捐腎 Inmate donates kidney to sister

Sharing the gift of life-- in Taiwan, death-row inmate, Zheng Jinwen(鄭金文) gave one of his kidneys to his sister last month. It was the first case in the country in which a death row prisoner made an organ donation. Zheng Jinwen was allowed to meet with his sister after the transplant, in what was a happy and emotional reunion.

分享寶貴的生命，給予重生的機會，在台灣死刑犯鄭金文，決定將腎臟捐給姊姊，在上個月完成器官移植手術，創下全台死囚活體捐贈的首例，台北看守所特別安排鄭金文，跟他的姊姊許素琴會面，姊弟相見，喜極而泣，場面感人。


6.大愛送看守所 Da Ai Dramas transform inmates

Da Ai TV”s own drama series are based on the struggles and triumphs of real people, inspiring audiences to change their own lives for the better. At the Nantou Detention Center, in Taiwan, the behavior of the inmates has improved, since they started watching DVDs of the show. Recently, Tzu Chi volunteers visited with the latest series, and even invited a star of one of the shows to come and cheer up the inmates.

大愛劇場都是挑戰人生的真人真事，所改編的電視劇，這些動人的故事往往激發觀眾，繼續努力改變挑戰自己，在台灣南投看守所，因為讓收容人觀看大愛劇場，而有了潛移默化的作用，最近慈濟人再度帶著，最新的大愛劇場，甚至還邀請其中一片的主角，來到看守所鼓勵收容人。


《 衲履足跡 》談心靈清泉 On A Spiritual Pure Spring

Tzu Chi culture is a spiritual pure spring, that not only flows when there is water in the river, but is a genuine pure foundation, welling up endlessly from the ground.
The superior quality of programs on Da Ai TV continually wash the pure spring into people”s minds, cleansing their hearts, and naturally winning public support.

7.柬埔寨歲末 1st year-end blessing ceremony

In Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, as soon as Tzu Chi volunteers finished their first large-scale distribution, they held their first year-end blessing ceremony. Some 140 people participated, among which 29 decided to put on the grey volunteer uniform.

在柬埔寨首都金邊的第一場，大型慈濟發放結束後，當天晚上，慈濟人就舉辦第一次的歲末祝福晚會，吸引140多位人士參與，其中29位受證成為灰衣志工。


8.泰大使訪內湖 TTEO director at Neihu station

On Wednesday morning, the Executive Director of Taipei”s Thailand Trade and Economic Office, Mr. Wiboon Khusakul paid a visit to Tzu Chi”s recycling station in the Neihu district. He is about to be posted to Beijing, as the new Thai ambassador to China. Before leaving, he wanted to thank Tzu Chi personally for its Thai flood relief efforts, and also learn more about Tzu Chi”s environmental mission.

星期三上午，泰國經貿辦事處代表 偉文丘氏君，前往慈濟內湖園區參訪，他即將被派往中國北京出任大使，出發前，特地要對慈濟援助泰國水患表示感謝，也想要多了解慈濟的環保理念。


9.上海論壇靜思 Tzu Chi spirit at business forum

Moving to China, Shanghai Tzu Chi volunteers were recently invited to talk about the organization”s humanitarian spirit, at a local entrepreneurs” training seminar. By making connections with the business community, the volunteers hoped to bring some positive changes to society.

來到中國 最近上海慈濟人受邀參與，當地實業家的培訓課程，分享慈濟人文，志工們希望能夠啟發業主的善念，更期盼企業主發揮影響力，把好觀念分享出去。


10.1209歷史的今天 On this day. December 9th.

1916 Writer Natsume Soseki dies
Japanese author Natsume Soseki was a teacher, who went to study in Britain, before he published his critically acclaimed book ”I Am a Cat”, and turned his attention to writing. His elegant and flowing style, which combined Asian and British influences, was very popular with readers. On this day in 1916, he died from a stomach ulcer at the age of 50.

1968 Mouse invention
This square box with a ball on the bottom, that could control a cursor, was the first step away from complex keyboard commands. The first computer mouse was invented by Douglas Engelbart from Stanford University, and revealed to the public on this day in 1968.

1989 Tzu Chi USA new home
As Tzu Chi”s services in the United States expanded, the old chapter, which used to be located in the home of local volunteers Huang Siyuan黃思遠 and Li Jingnian李靜念, was moved to its new location on this day in 1989. In a ceremony hosted by Master Yinhai, local Tzu Chi volunteers pledged to spread the spirit of Tzu Chi throughout the USA.

1996 Azerbaijan partnership
Representing the Tzu Chi foundation, Chen Sisheng陳思晟1 met with representatives of the University of London on this day in 1996, to sign a three-year partnership to assist Azerbaijan refugees, to help improve their living and health conditions, and launch an aid relief program the following year.

2004 Xinjiang quake schools open
The Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in China was struck by a powerful earthquake in 2003. After sending a disaster assessment team to the area, Tzu Chi decided to rebuild two local elementary schools. On this day in 2004, the new schools were officially opened. Volunteers from Taiwan and China came to join the celebrations, and donated school supplies to the children, in hopes that they would develop an interest in learning.

2007 Chicken farm to eco station
In Neimen township, of Kaohsiung county, in the south of Taiwan, after Tzu Chi volunteers helped a struggling resident through a rough time, the former care recipient donated a chicken barn to Tzu Chi, converting it into a recycling station. The farmer also encouraged neighbors to help sort recyclables.

1916年 日本國民作家 夏目澍石病逝
日本作家夏目澍石，留學英國，原本從事教職，自從發表長篇小說＜我是貓＞大受好評之後，而致力於創作，融合漢學和英國文學風格，作品流露優雅與幽默，引發廣大讀者共鳴，1916年這天卻因為胃潰瘍惡化過世，享年五十歲。

1968年 原型滑鼠 首次問世
像一個方型盒子，下方有小球，帶動樞軸轉動，進而代替鍵盤的繁瑣指令，世界首款滑鼠，由美國史丹福大學的
恩格爾巴特博士所發明，1968年這天，首次公開展示。

1989年 美國慈濟新會所 靜思堂正式啟用
慈濟美國分會，原本位在志工黃思遠和李靜念家中，隨著會務擴展，而在1989年這天，遷移到新會所，由印海法師主持啟用典禮，當地慈濟志工匯聚一堂，共同發願要將慈濟精神在美國發揚光大。

1996年 援助亞塞拜然 倫敦大學簽約
慈濟基金會代表陳思晟，1996年這天在英國倫敦大學，與校方代表簽約，將以三年時間，合作援助亞塞拜然難民，協助改善居住環境和醫療品質，並從隔年展開援助行動。

2004年 馳援新疆強震 希望工程啟用
新疆維吾爾自治區，2003年發生強烈地震，慈濟基金會派員前往勘災後，決定援建當地兩所小學，2004年這天舉辦啟用典禮，來自台灣和大陸的慈濟志工也到場祝福，並且致贈文具用品給學童，祝福他們歡喜學習。

2007年 養雞場變環保站 歡喜入厝
台灣高雄內門鄉，一位慈濟的關懷戶，為了感念慈濟志工的陪伴，在自立生活之後，捐出家中的養雞場，做為慈濟環保站，也帶動鄰居一起資源回收。


11.和仁居家關懷 Moving story about Ran family

Tzu Chi volunteers in Hualien, Taiwan, helped refurbish the home of a local resident, Mr. Ran, who is a struggling single father with two children to support. Local volunteers fixed up their rundown home, and also found them some second-hand furniture, so Mr. Ran”s family could make a fresh start.

慈濟志工，協助台灣花蓮冉先生一家入厝，冉先生為單親爸爸，獨力撫養兩個小孩，家裡生活困頓，慈濟志工接獲通報後，協助居家修繕，還載來二手家具，幫助冉先生一家改善生活狀況。

1.泰慈濟 Time to clean up

But we start today”s show in Bangkok, Thailand, where communities close to the river were hard hit by the recent flooding. The water not only swept a huge amount of trash into residents” homes, but also left an unpleasant smell behind, when it finally receded. Some small families, who were having trouble cleaning up their homes, were happy to see the arrival of Tzu Chi volunteers. Residents were particularly moved to learn that teachers and students from Chiang Mai Tzu Chi School, traveled 12 hours to Bangkok, just to help out.

今天首先帶大家到泰國曼谷，位在泰國曼谷靠近運河的社區，在水災後變成重災區，不只沖進了許多汙泥和垃圾，也在水退去後留下難聞的氣味，人口少的家庭，要清掃實在有困難，看到慈濟志工的到來，相當開心，得知清邁慈濟學校師生，搭車12個小時來曼谷，讓受災鄉親們感動不已。

2.德州街友發放 Aid for Houston homeless

In the United States, Tzu Chi Houston Chapter teamed up with the local Catholic Church to help the homeless. Because of the recent economic slump, there are about 10,000 street people in the area. Volunteers prepared blankets and daily necessities to help them endure the cold winter.

在美國，慈濟美國德州休士頓分會，和當地天主教會合作，來到城中區服務街友，因為景氣低迷，這一區附近將近有一萬民街友，志工替大家準備了毛毯和生活用品，希望陪他們度過寒冬。


3.柬埔寨發放 Poverty relief in flood hit areas

After a 16-year hiatus, Tzu Chi has returned to Cambodia. This time, volunteers from Singapore, Malaysia and Cambodia conducted a large-scale distribution. 120 local volunteers helped them deliver aid to 888 poor families, whose already harsh lives had been made even more difficult by the recent flooding.

相隔16年後，慈濟在柬埔寨，再延續這分情，由新加坡、馬來西亞和柬埔寨的慈濟人，舉行大型物資發放，120位本地志工熱情相挺，讓888戶貧困又遭遇水患的居民，減輕生活負擔和壓力。

4.屏東環保健檢 Burkina Faso visitors in Pingtung

Doctors from the Tzu Chi International Medical Association went to Pingtung County, in southern Taiwan, to hold a free clinic for recycling volunteers, at Tzu Chi”s Yanpu(鹽埔) liaison office. It just so happened that four medical workers from Burkina Faso were also there, on an exchange program.

年終歲末，慈濟人醫會到屏東鹽埔聯絡處，幫環保志工做健康檢查，剛好有四位來自西非，布幾納法索的護理人員，來台灣見習學習台灣的醫療系統，與社區醫療。


5.新店歲末圓滿 Wenshan year-end blessing

Volunteers from Taipei”s Wenshan District held eight year-end blessing ceremonies, with over 2,000 participants in each, at Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital. The huge turnout was attributed to the Water Repentance musical.

在台北文山區的慈濟志工，在台北慈濟醫院舉辦，八場歲末祝福活動，每場都有兩三千人參加，透過參與水懺演繹和讀書會，志工們不只菩薩大招生，彼此之間的默契 也更好。


6.海外真善美 NZ media volunteers back to learn

Da Ai Headlines wouldn”t be the same without media volunteers. But filming a TV news story is more difficult than it looks. Some volunteers from New Zealand took a trip back to Taiwan recently to learn some tips from their experienced colleagues over here.

真善美志工，也是大愛英語新聞最強而有力的後盾，不過，電視新聞製作並非大家想像的簡單，紐西蘭慈濟志工，趁著回台受證為慈濟委員的機緣，特別多停留一些時間在台灣，學習拍攝的技巧。


《 衲履足跡 》談淨化人心 Cleansing Human Hearts

The Master said that she hoped everyone could be ”a blessing in a blessing”. Although our standard of living may be high, and we enjoy full social security, our troubled minds still need direction.
Tzu Chi people use the teachings of ”great kindness” to sow good seeds in our modern society, and guide people”s minds to be full of love.

期待大家能作「富中之富」，雖然民生經濟富裕、福利政策完善，受煩惱的心靈仍需引導。慈濟人用「大慈」之法，在當地社會撒播善種子，引導人心為無私大愛的心。


7.玉里全鎮齋戒 Once-in-20-years event

Beginning from Monday, Hualien”s Yuli Township started a seven-day religious festival. The ritual is held once every 20 years, and virtually everyone in the township takes part. Tzu Chi”s Yuli Hospital set up service points, to provide health and other assistance.

花蓮玉里鎮，從12月5日開始展開為期七天的建醮祈福法會，二十年一次的大齋戒，全鎮居民都以虔誠的心共同護持，玉慈濟醫院以及環保站，在各定點服務鄉親提供素食，帶動環保回收點以及衛教宣導。


8.馬電腦維修 Recycling upgrade

With the onward march of progress, computers are turning up at environmental stations. To make the best use of these discarded machines, a recycling station in Penang, Malaysia, has started repairing them, and donating them to Burmese children.

隨著時代的進步，舊電腦開始出現在環保站，為了讓這些被淘汰的機器，得到有效的利用，檳城跑馬園的慈濟環保教育站，有一群志工專門維修電腦，而修好的機器就送給緬甸的孩童。


9.馬中華書展 World Chinese Book Fair

Staying in Malaysia, the Jing Si Books and Cafe store in Selangor is hosting a stall at the 13th World Chinese Book Fair. This year, a group of college students came to learn about Tzu Chi.

也是馬來西亞的報導，慈濟雪蘭莪靜思書軒，舉辦第十三屆馬來西亞的中華書展，今年一群大學生就到書展了解慈濟。


10.1207歷史的今天 On this day. December 7.

1941 Attack on Peal Harbor
On this day in 1941, the Japanese Navy attacked the US base in Peal Harbor, Hawaii, scoring a complete victory, and provoking a furious reaction from the American public. President Roosevelt addressed Congress the next day, and the US officially entered World War II and declared war on Japan.

2001 One person One heart
Students and teachers from Changan Elementary School in Taipei”s Xizhi district launched a ”One person, One heart” campaign on this day in 2001, to raise money for Typhoon Nali relief, and the hard-hit Da Ai TV station. Although the school was also damaged by the storm, Tzu Chi volunteers worked for days to clean up classrooms, so the children could continue their education.

2002 Rice aid for dry Huoqiu
Huoqiu霍邱 county in China”s Anhui province was hit by three consecutive years of drought, starting in 1999. After sending a disaster assessment team, Tzu Chi volunteers from Taiwan, Australia, the US and China came together to distribute rice to struggling villagers on this day in 2002. A month later, they followed up with winter supplies, including warm quilts and clothes.

2008 Rural health in Malaysia
Tzu Chi volunteers in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur regularly award school scholarships to deserving students. Discovering local villagers needed to change their ideas about health and hygiene, the volunteers organized a rural health promotion event on this day in 2008. The team also gave roundworm medication to children.

2009 Learning the Tzu Chi way
On this day in 2009, over 100 Malaysian and Singaporean teachers and principles, from the kindergarten to college level, visited Da Ai Television Station in Taipei, and then went on to Hualien to study how Tzu Chi teaches Jing Si aphorisms to pupils of all ages. The educators took what they learned back to Malaysia and Singapore.

2002年 淮河霍邱 慈濟送暖
中國安徽省的霍邱縣，從一九九九年開始，連續三年遭受旱災，慈濟基金會派員前往勘察災情之後，2002年 這天來自台灣、澳洲、美國以及大陸當地的慈濟志工，攜手致贈大米給當地受災鄉親，一個月後再度前往關懷，加贈冬衣與棉被，祝福鄉親平安過冬。

2008年 馬來西亞原民村 衛教宣導助孩童
馬來西亞吉隆坡的慈濟志工，定期提供獎助學金給貧窮學童，深入當地原住民村落，發現村民的公共衛生觀念有待調整，因此志工2008年這天來到村子裡，為村民健康檢查、衛教宣導，也提供蛔蟲藥給孩童服用。

2009年 星馬教師來台 觀摩靜思語教學
來自新加坡和馬來西亞，2009年這天，從幼教到大專院校的教師、園長，以及校長等兩百多人，來到台北大愛電視台參訪，隨後並且前往花蓮，觀摩慈濟各級學校的靜思語教學，以做為星馬地區的教學參考。


11.印尼林建良 The joy of making a difference

Go to Tzu Chi”s liaison office in Tangerang, Indonesia, and you might meet recycling volunteer, Lin Jianliang. Although an accomplished businessman, Mr. Lin doesn”t mind getting his hands dirty for the sake of the planet. He says, making a difference is more rewarding than making millions.

鏡頭轉到印尼當格朗慈濟聯絡處，有位環保志工林建良，雖然他是一位成功的大老闆，他能放下身段以行動愛地球，他說有意義的付出，比賺幾百萬更有意義。

At the Thailand government complex in Bangkok”s Laksi district, Tzu Chi volunteers brought remaining flood victims cleaning equipment so they may get to work as soon as they return home. Tzu Chi volunteers from Singapore and Malaysia join their counterparts in Cambodia for a large distribution in Phnom Penh. At this year”s third surgery simulation at Tzu Chi University, medical students and doctors had a rare chance to learn from their eight Silent Mentors.

在今天的節目當中，慈濟志工再度來到曼谷朗四區的泰國行政中心，為剩下來大水災民送來清潔用具，好讓他們一回到家就可以打掃；新加坡與馬來西亞的慈濟志工與在柬埔寨的志工會合，在金邊舉辦大型發放；雖然慈濟大學今年第三次的大體模擬手術已經圓緣，醫學系學生與醫師一起在8位大體老師身上學到難得的知識。

1.1204泰慈濟 End in sight

Tzu Chi volunteers in Thailand again went back to the government administration center in Bangkok, to deliver aid to the flood victims sheltering in the building. But this time, they brought cleaning equipment for the residents. As the flood waters are finally going down, most people will soon be returning home, where a mammoth cleaning job awaits them. The brooms and mops will help the residents get to work as soon as possible.

泰國慈濟人又來到位在曼谷行政中心的收容所，為居民送來清掃工具，水一退，居民準備回家，不過接踵而來的是龐大的清理工作，居民拿到掃把與拖把，可以盡快開始打掃家園。


2.貴州助學發放 Scholarships for Guizhou”s needy

Also helping those in need, Tzu Chi volunteers went to Guizhou Normal University in China to award scholarships for the second time of the 2011 academic year. Many of the university students had received assistance from Tzu Chi while in high school. Before awarding the scholarships, volunteers visited low income households in Luodian (羅甸) County, to better understand their situations.

慈濟志工在貴州師範大學舉行2011學年度第二次的大學助學金發放，不少大學生其實在高中就曾經接受過慈濟的幫助，此外，慈濟志工也特別在羅甸先行訪視幾戶貧苦人家，了解他們的生活情形。

Britannica out
Founded by Colin Macfarquhar and Andrew Bell, the first edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica appeared on this day in 1768. It was also called ”A Dictionary of Arts and Sciences”. With advancing technology, the original copperplate images were replaced by multimedia applications, and foreign language editions. The publication is still the most famous encyclopedia in the world.

Early in the morning on this day in 1993, 40 Chinese army trucks bearing banners painted with ”Taiwan Tzu Chi, Hunan Aid Relief”, and carrying winter quilts and over 100 soldiers, rumbled into the Miao Autonomous Region in Hunan province to deliever aid to poor residents. The 3,600km round trip was an example of cross-Straits cooperation.

Starting this day in 1994, Tzu Chi”s Cambodia disaster relief team went to 12 points to donate rice to local residents. The local provincial governor said Tzu Chi was the first overseas agency to deliver real aid to the flood-hit area. During the three-day distribution, volunteers bought 50 water pumps to help victims restore their communities.

On this day in 2008, Tzu Chi volunteers were invited by Taiping Elementary in Taiwan”s Taichung to take part in the school”s 90th anniversary, and receive an award to thank Tzu Chi for rebuilding the school after the 9/21 earthquake, and helping the teachers and students emerge from the tragedy. From emotional support to material assistance, the volunteers took the children through the recovery process.

After an earthquake hit Chile in March 2010, Tzu Chi offered aid relief and health services to victims, and started a recycling program and a free clinic. On this day in 2010, volunteers took part in the graduation ceremony at Santa Maria school, and delivered breakfast to 500 struggling students.

1768年，大英百科全書，世界知識權威，由貝爾和麥克法夸爾這天在英國愛丁堡出版大英百科全書第一版第一卷，當時也稱為藝術與科學辭典，從最初的銅板插畫蛻變為多媒體影音，跨越英語框架，流通全球，是當今世界最知名最權威的百科全書。

1993年，軍用卡車送物資，愛心三千六百里，這天清晨，超過四十輛軍用卡車掛上布條，上面寫著台灣慈濟、湖南賑災字樣，載著棉被，在上百位人民解放軍的護送下，出發前往湖南苗族自治區，為遭受水患之苦的居民送上溫情，來回三千六百公里，牽起兩岸互助情緣。

1994年，旱澇缺糧，大米援助，從1994年這天起，慈濟柬埔寨賑災團員分別前往十二個據點致贈大米給當地民眾，三天的發放行動中，還當場加贈五十部中小型抽水機，協助災區重建。

2008年，太平國小校慶，傑出貢獻獎慈濟，慈濟志工在2008年這天受邀到台中縣太平國小參加創校九十周年校慶，並且接受校方頒贈傑出貢獻獎，以感恩慈濟志工從九二一地震之後，援建校舍、陪伴師生，從硬體工程到心靈改革，引導孩子向上。

2010年，強震因緣，愛在智利，自從2010年三月份發生強震以來，慈濟志工踏上智利，提供物資援助以及義診，2010年這天，當地慈濟志工受邀到聖瑪莉亞學校參加結業典禮，並且為五百多位家境清寒的學生，送來愛心早餐。


4.柬埔寨清理 Preparing for large distribution

As you just saw, Tzu Chi started delivering rice to disaster-hit villagers in Cambodia on this day back in 1994. This year, a total of 22 Tzu Chi volunteers from Singapore and Malaysia arrived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to help with the first large supply distribution in the country, which took place on December 4th. Before the supplies were distributed, the residents of Chroy Chongva also actively cleared litter and cut overgrown weeds at the large outdoor distribution site.

新加坡和馬來西亞慈濟志工，一共22人抵達柬埔寨金邊，將會協助在12月4號舉行的首場大型生活物資發放，而發放對象，水淨華區的居民也在活動之前，主動扛起清理發放場地的工作，因為空曠的草地上雜草叢生，當地居民感恩慈濟前來發放，也透過場地清掃，回饋這分恩情。


5.美家長發放 Weekly food distribution

Moving to San Francisco, in the United States, Tzu Chi volunteers visit Gordon Lau Elementary School once a week to hold food distributions. Over the past four years, volunteers have managed to build friendships with many parents, and even inspired some to join their ranks. Let”s take a look.

接著將鏡頭轉到美國舊金山，慈濟志工每周一次會在在劉貴明小學舉行食物發放，過去四年來，志工跟許多家長建立了友誼，也啟發了許多人一起投入志工的行列，讓我們一起來看看。

6.100(3)模擬大體送靈 Farewell, my mentors

Following the end of the third simulated surgery program at the Tzu Chi University, on the morning of December 5, a joint memorial service was organized for all eight Silent Mentors. Attendants included the cadaver donors” family members, medical students, and volunteers.

慈濟大學第三梯模擬手術結束，12月5日上午為大體老師舉行莊嚴的送靈典禮，大體老師家屬、醫學生與志工一起參加，感念大體老師對醫學的貢獻。


7.100(3)模擬術式(四) Simulated surgery

The last day of class, at the third simulated surgery program this year, was joined by professional doctors as well as medical students. Surgeons from Tzu Chi hospitals around Taiwan came to practice their skills on the donated bodies, so they can better serve real patients in the future. Before the start of class, everyone put their palms together in a prayer of gratitude to the donors.

模擬手術進行到最後一天，不只醫學生，許多醫師也把握機會一同精進醫術，慈濟醫院的醫師前來精進醫術，造福未來病患，手術開始之前，大家合掌，感恩無語良師捨身奉獻。


8.聖母訪關慈 St. Mary”s Hospital is 50

Taitung”s St. Mary”s Hospital is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Deputy superintendent Chen Liangjuan (陳良娟) along with Dr. Lin Ruixiang (林瑞祥) paid a visit to Guanshan Tzu Chi Hospital, to express their gratitude for the long term support and learn about Tzu Chi”s humanitarian spirit.

台東聖母醫院五十周年院慶，陳良娟副院長與林瑞祥醫師來到關山慈濟醫院表達感恩，也了解了慈濟的人文精神。

假如有所求，心裡有掛礙就不快樂；心無所求，付出無掛礙，天天都開心自在。慈濟人要用無私的心付出，慈濟種子需要農夫用心灌溉，希望人人以無私大愛成就大事。


9.馬水懺共修 Water Repentance in Malacca

The Tzu Chi office in Malacca, Malaysia recently held the second Water Repentance half-day study session. A total of 370 bodhisattvas seized the rare opportunity to participate. In front of everyone, the local office director Lin Citian(林慈恬) repented for not doing enough to recruit more people to join Tzu Chi”s path.

慈濟馬六甲分會舉辦第二次法譬如水半日精進共修，當天共有370入經藏菩薩出席，執行長林慈恬當眾向志工發露懺悔，幾年來菩薩大招生的努力不足。


10.新店醫院歲末 Year-end blessing at Taipei TCH

With the end of the year fast approaching, the Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital was transformed into a spiritual center over the weekend as it hosted the annual year-end blessing ceremony of Wenshan (文山區) district. Hospital patients also took part in the event.

今年就快要結束了，這個周末，台北慈院化身為心靈道場，承辦一年一度文山區的歲末祝福，醫院裡的病人也一起參加，不僅替他人，也替自己祈福。


11.中慈身障義診 Special needs, special care

For three years now, staff at the TaichungTzu Chi Hospital, have been providing free services to children from a home for the disabled. Over the weekend, some 120 children with special needs underwent full-body check-ups, with their teachers and volunteers by their sides.

台中慈濟醫院的醫護人員，連續三年來都為信望愛智能中心的身障學員進行義診，上個週末，一百二十多名身障孩子，在醫護人員、志工和師長的陪伴下，完成了詳盡的全身健康檢查。


12.天使歌手 Determination to reach the stars

A resident of Taichung, Taiwan, Wang Huixin (汪蕙欣) suffers from congenital brain damage and has problems with her speech, which also makes singing a great challenge. Not one to give in, however, Huixin works on her pronunciation every day, and has become so good at it she is now singing at hospitals to entertain patients.

台中有位熱愛唱歌的女生汪蕙欣，因為先天腦部嚴重受傷，簡單的說話能力，對她來說無比困難，尤其是要開口唱歌更不容易，但她努力克服自身的殘缺，天天練習咬字，現在定期到醫院用歌聲膚慰病患。
